In the screenshot? That's the cycle model from the original Armagetron moviepack. I just put in in the game for the screenshot. I did not include it in the ZIP. What should I have done?

And, here's another rim texture I made, but not for the above moviepack.

And since I don't want to make new threads for stupid stuff like this, here is another texture. It's for my race server "Adventures of TRON: Escape The Grid." And, here is a lovely screen shot too.

EDIT: Added revised texture after realizing original design was totally impractical. Added below.

EDIT2: Added a small, matching floor texture. Good if you turn up the brightness to about .75 in settings_visual.cfg.

Sorry, I'm used to reading complaints about huge screenshots. Maybe you can install the texture, go to the server, and make your own! :D

EDIT on 24 Feb 2013: Turned the above loose textures into a moviepack.

Man, that does look good. Any way to unbuckle it a bit from the movie? ;)

Yes. The sudden (and surely short lived) popularity of my stupid race server has inspired me to make more maps and a totally different custom wall texture for them. It should be ready in about a month or so. I make the maps by hand, but maybe Inkscape will help speed things up. I'll look into it.

But everything I do usually has some "Tron-ish" elements in it anyway. The aesthetic was a big influence on my development as an artist and musician.

Tron-ish is fine for me, but potentially infringing the tron copyright isn't. :) (Obviously I don't consider this game as infringing, or I wouldn't be here :) )

I was thinking that looks like a real good wall texture, and we've talked off and on about updating the wall texture in the trunk. In fact, it has been changed a bit since it debuted in 0.2.8 and looks a lot better, but I'm trying to keep my eyes out in case philippeqc comes along and says "Let's change all the graphics again for the next release!" :)

That's where I thought you were going with this. I'll keep my eyes open for any new texture discussions. In the meantime, I'll spend some time thinking about what makes a good game texture. I'm sure some of it will be similar to the "what makes good in-game music" discussion. I really do love making textures and I'll keep doing so, but I'll challenge myself to "think outside the rim" next time.
