It's not far from the cpu to the light switch. But see, it comes on every morning at 7am, while I'm sleeping. The first morning it was very helpful. Some clouds rolled in over night and it was really dark, and without this light, I'd have stayed in bed. The cumulative effect is slowly taking hold, but I'm still not seriously expecting results for another two weeks or so.
I also bound some keys to turn it off and on.
Keeping in mind the point was to control a circuit with the parallel port so I could gain experience doing that and move on to more complex circuits...
What's really fun is to ssh into that computer while my wife is in there poking around and turn the lights off.
