Yeah, to be honest I'm not so sure if I want to play either with 15 rubber. It's like we can pick between high rubber and absurdly high rubber. I'm also not sure how the balance is being kept by denying low rubber players to pick their setting, but allowing high rubber players to pick up to 35.

I think it would've been more fair if you'd just let everyone pick from a greater range of settings and say after the poll is closed that you'd rather go for something thats reasonable for everyone and not go with the setting that has the most votes. But what's happened now is that there's a portion of the people who can't even express their preference. There's eleven people on that list who I've seen play with lowrubber settings on fortress and sumo, and sure a couple of those people might prefer to play LMS with high rubber, but you're not going to get an accurate view of what we want if ~half of the people don't see an option they like in the poll.

I guess I should have posted this sooner, sorry for that.

looks like i missed it again
oh well
my crappy 500+ ping would trip me up anyways

as for team organisation game-type discussion:
fortress
seems to attract the die-hards
why bugger about with anything lesser...?

Well, it's not set in stone, but from the vote there were a few people who prefer higher rubber and most who seem to prefer as low as possible. So in order to respect the wishes of the majority we go for the lower (which was 15), but to also not leave the high rubber guys completely in cold we don't go lower than 15.

Now if someone who voted for high rubber would actually not mind if we, based on the vote as it stands, take it down from 15 to 10 then fine.. The controversy is all AA specific. I don't really care myself what the settings are. I'm just trying to make the most acceptable compromise for everyone.

But if you're holding to your camps as if they're sacred, then.. as you wish.

armagetron is not a game

that would be like saying drafts and chess are one game...
or american football, soccer, australian rules are all one game...
or all the shoot-em-up games as one game...

armagetron provides the platform (hmm...)
to design certain game-environments

fortress
is one classic design
there's a whole variety of single-player grids
and then there's crazy fortress variations
and the flag servers too...

which means
agreeing on rubber
is just one facet of a well designed game-environment

shit mate, what have I been playing all this time then :| :D

I had a brief look but couldn't see any dates...when is the event?

About the rubber....if you have any more than 5....then the gameplay becomes about the rubber, which is why there's not much of a will to compromise...

over 5 rubber will just turn into who can dig more than the other guy. Which is what any server with more than 5 is all about. Who wants to participate in a game like that? With more rubber you will get more camping and then it just turns into a bitch fest just like this topic did.

When is the event? Well, as soon as we can get the final rule set in shape, basically decide on the most pressing issue like the rubber and then set up the server, groups of people who are confirmed to participate and then schedule the first matches according to the rules.

About the other things you should check this out: http://www.nuxified.org/topic/organizin ... final_part

Light cycle is something we should decide. May 0.1 be a good middle ground?

About rubber, as it says in that topic, we can really go fluid with this and simply allow people involved in a particular match to vote whether to do a low or high rubber.

Please check out the linked topic. Let's get this ironed out finally. :)

Thank you
