ive just visited the gunbound site to have a look at some screen shots (im not gonna download 100mb on dialup)

anyway half way through downloading the screen shot images i got a popup error box stating: KeyCrypt was not successfully installed.
so i cut the connection shut down and restored my drive image from cd just to be safe.

tell me what is this keycrypt crap thats trying to install in the background ?
and why didnt the site ask permission before attempting to install ?

my point is, if you have the curiosity to ask such a Q then don't you have the equal curiosity to read back three posts to find the answer? is that so much to expect?

and the other thing, more important really: when someone new comes to the forums i would hope s/he should be made to feel welcome if possible by the regulars (which i count you as). okay, that's all i have to say i guess.

sorry about that, iceman. i'm not entirely sure the specs on how keycrypt works, but i know the basic concept: it's a recent addition that AFAIK runs concurrently whenever GB is run and i think as a browser security plugin or somesuch. what it specifically does is to prevent other users from using keylogging hacks to steal your login and PW. basically so many users got ripped off that they had to use a system like this.

unfortunately GB is an online game (prolly like many others really) that is under constant attack from hackers and scriptkiddies, such that they need to regularly install fixes to prevent this. once installed, these patches don't take long to auto-update (even on dialup). the biggest problem on dialup is actually getting the install as you found. but if you're interested what i could do is burn a copy and send you, like i did with drjoetron.

actually i'd love to see what you think of the game because a thought in the back of my head is to help somehow on an open-source 'FREEBOUND' version. the game itself is simply superb and worth the effort IMO.

EDIT: this may help, altho their english is, uh... not the best:

very nice of you to offer a burned cd but i think one hacked online game [armagetron] is just about all i can deal with right now without going totally crazy and blowing up my pc with TNT followed by killing everyone in site with a uzi and rocket launcher

i was just interested in looking at some screen shots to see what its all about, is it like worms ?

it's a chess-like version of worms. it's perfecctly fun to play as a light, fluffy game (and it looks that way frankly) but actually it has a VERY deep and nuanced ruleset. the people who do well in this game are the ones with good strategy, tactics and teamwork.

What kind of game is this? What do you do? objective? I went to the site, but it looks confusing (lol it's too early to think right now)I haven't read all 10+ pages lol too lazy. I don't know what worms is, so that doesn't help me. And can I run it on a P4 1.6ghz with 32MB-TNT2 vid card?

easily. as for what kind of game it is, look up the "scorched earth" or "worms" entries over at underdogs to learn the basic concept:
