Armagoshdarn Clone -> Classic Play 3?

Post by Tank Program »

I've noticed Armagoshdarn Clone isn't getting a lot of play lately, or if it is, I'm not seeing it... So, I'm thinking of converting it into Classic Play 3, cause it seems ppl really like Classic Play... And Classic Play 2...

Thoughts & Comments please.

Given how Armagoshdarn Clone is the closest thing we have to the original Armagoshdarn in terms of server settings, I think it ought to stay as it is. But maybe that's just me.

Yeah, but I haven't seen anyone playing on it in about 3 months... Which means to me it's just a waste of CPU.

There's like a whole ton of goshdarn clones now....

Hey, tank, why don't you try it as a Breakfast server and see how it does? ;)

ive found that both breakfast servers are totally unplayable

i just get massive lag and the bike update rate seems extremely slow as i often see bikes driving forward but then 2 or 3 seconds later they are actually half way across the arena at a 90 degree angle and no where near the position that i originally saw them

That's not surprising, if you're in the UK as your location field here seems to indicate. Due to the high speeds on these servers, you really need to be pretty close to them. That's kinda why I was thinking Tigers having a Breakfast clone would be cool, because it would make it possible for the Euro guys to play Breakfast. (There are some exceptions, Yaza plays from Japan, of course, and usually has one of the best pings on the server)

Tigers Network Breakfast Clone...
Maybe scratch the "Clone"... I'll keep it in mind, I haven't made my final decisision, and I can always change it again if still no one plays on it... Yeah, I'll think about it.

Just so I (and others) know, which servers are they? Armagoshdarnish doesn't count since its settings are not exactly the same as the original Armagoshdarn. As to whether or not Armagoshdarn Clone should be scrapped, I suppose that as long as someone keeps a record of the settings somewhere, then it's okay. That way, someone can always revive it later on if there's a demand.

FYI, once this rip grind bug is handled, I'll be inclined to make the settings closer too (maybe even exactly the same as) original goshdarn. Most of what I've fiddled is to prevent rip grinding. The cycle delay is shorter, which I personally prefer, but could easily put it back to original goshdarn if the majority want it.

Reading quotes between rounds on goshdarn was a lot of the fun for me. I'd actually like to implement that sort of thing myself, but haven't really thought about how to do it.
