Heh, not necessarily. Elite means you better be prepared to get called out on the floor to prove yourselves.
Fortress just happens to be a really good way to do so.
Most of the AFL pages are still in draft phase, but you should be able to get a good gist of how its played. Just fair warning, since most of the people that play fortress don't think "rubber" is a gametype (because it is, in fact, a mechanism to deal with lag), so rubber tends to be a bit low.
If you're still interested after all that, please sign up.
Summer season will be free, starting in the fall we're wanting to collect a per-team fee to pay for trophies and other supporting expenses.

Maybe you should find out more about rubber, because saying you're an elite rubber player is just like saying you're an elite frictional coefficient, or an elite addition, or an elite lever arm.

Most iZms, especially the two listed, are rather philosophies or schools of thought or art. Atheists, especially, will summon the Invisible Pink Unicorn to impale you if you call Atheism a belief. here is an example of what is driving me nuts..
many player (mostly new ones) call the "deathmatch mode" rubber...
so all server that are not fortress, capture the flag, race or something like that are called rubber server...
it is called deathmatch, damnit
even server with a high rubber value are deathmatch server!!!

I don't want to get too anal about names.
I was just thinking that with expression parsing and all we could very well come up with a function for rubber that gives the best value and is a function of distance from the wall, client ping, cycle velocity and acceleration, and works for most cases. Then we set CYCLE_RUBBER to default to this function.
Because that would serve the purpose of rubber, right? In a way, it would be like the ultimate culmination of what rubber was intended to be. But all these rubber players will come and scream bloody murder for that. Not that I'd let that stop me, or anything, but if we could get them to at least see that rubber's not a game mode, most of that backlash goes away.

Third advice: get used to people making fun of your clan.
We could make it so that the rubber mechanism mainly protects you against deaths by walls that jump into your face, that is new walls, and that the time a wall will count as new for these purposes depends on your ping. This would be a server enforced ping charity like thing. You could also get extra protection after lag slides (which the server can detect); problem there is that hacked clients can fake lag slides all of the time.

This would be a server enforced ping charity like thing. You could also get extra protection after lag slides (which the server can detect); problem there is that hacked clients can fake lag slides all of the time.
Hmmmm, seems like rubber is involved every time you approach a wall, so walls that jump in your face will behave differently than walls you saw a long ways off. The crucial bit is getting the 200-300ms timing just right when you reach a wall so you can accelerate after you turn, and whether it's protecting you from lag or not, rubber imo makes it possible to do that crucial bit.

There's two aspects of rubber: First, it makes you not die when you would normally hit the wall. That's what I'm talking about here, I suggest making you not die when a wall lag-jumps into your face. How often walls jump into your path depends on your lag, so making this part lag-dependant would make sense.
The second aspect is the slowdown as you approach a wall, any wall. This part is independent of your latency and just makes it easier to time your grinds. This is definitely not a desired effect of rubber; gameplay wise, it's irrelevant. With or without rubber, the better timing will give you a closer grind or less risk of dying in the process. The alternative would be worse, though: rubber would not slow you down, you'd hit the wall and seal the passage immediately. I'm not talking about changing that part, it's a necessary evil.
