Yes, I convinced Faramir to change tail leanths to 600. No more infanant tails. I think he is going to change it back to 2.6 because that 2.7 server is too laggy.
PS Tank- You need a "Ring Community" under servers.

Thanks for reporting this.Zapple wrote:I think he is going to change it back to 2.6 because that 2.7 server is too laggy.

We'll have to look into this and verify if, in fact, there is new code that is slowing down the 0.2.7.0 servers to an unbearable level.
Currently, I don't know.
Any more feedback on this would be great.

btw, just in case it's not clear- i was applauding the switch to receding trails only. i can't stand permawalls since they were specifically engineered to irritate me.
otherwise i know nothing of the 2.7 server issues, altho the client seems to run jerky on this PIII 800mhz, which is strange because ish-admin was telling me that it runs fine on his celeron 500mhz machine.

Hello all!
About my server:
1) Yes, there are no more permanet walls, at this moment the server has the WALLS_LENGTH 700 value.
2) In addition, and taking the advantages of the new version, there is a Death Zone instead Win Zone.
About the lag... At the first moment i installed the rpm binaries at guru3.sytes.net/armagetronad but finally i compiled the 0.7 source for my specific linux core (Fedora). I think my server is running better with this change.
I have noticed some complaints from some users about they have more lag playing in 0.7 servers. But really, at the moment i cannot affirm surely that Ring Community Server has more lag with 0.7 than with 0.6. If i have time i'll run another armagetron-dedicated process in 0.6 and i'll try test this question with objectivity. I'll say you the results
