I'm trying to set up a Ladle server. Which version are we using? .2.8? .4? It's been so long I don't remember.

2.8 is still much better than .4, I say we should stick with that.

For the server, you should stick with the latest 0.2.8 because it has all the necessary features and is the most stable.

Players can choose whichever version they want for clients. I'll be using the latest 0.4. :)

Thanks kyle! I put up a server in New York. Sounds like we might need it. If necessary I can put one up in Netherlands.

Update re: a brackets/signup page and my infrastructure:

The signup sheet will be up this week. I don't have any subdomains left on VixDev, so it's going to have to be an iframe somewhere on the root domain. Because of that I'm also going to be hosting at home. I'll keep an eye on the uptime, but PM me if it goes down (once it's up, of course!)

My US infrastructure runs on RHEL, and as much as I tried to get an arma server running I couldn't quite get it to build properly and remain reliable. Sine's server will have to do, but I think that should be plenty. The UK side of things operates partially on Windows, so that's ready to go as soon as I've fixed the firewall config. I'll need to move some things around for that to happen, expect more during the week.

Apparently teams are still a thing. Team Leaders will be able to sign up their teams, the remaining players will form a team based on the original text below.
Since nobody is really discussing teams, I'm going to allow people to sign up individually, and optionally volunteer as a team leader. There will also be an option to enter a preferred position from 1-7. Once signups are closed, I'll randomly select teams with a rough bias based on preferred positions. I doubt every TL will have a team, since I don't think we'll have enough players for more than four or five teams, so bear this in mind.

Signups will close on Monday 28th evening-time GMT, so around midday for East-Coast players and morning for West.

The server config will remain where it is on my site, and will be updated on Friday 1st June to reflect moderators, team leaders, players etc. Additionally, I'll add authority to talk to teams only, to prevent a mess in the chat.

Finally, what time are we going to hold the Ladle? I vote for 8PM GMT.

I'll see about getting an East Coast server up this week for testing. I've got access to a 128GB RAM, Dual Titan V, i7 cpu on my campus. I'm just not sure about whether or not the ports will be open on the network.
