Just a quick TST update: anybody who has put a team on the Wiki to please put it under a EU or a US bracket. Many asked for A classic TST with Location preference (US and EU). SO gogogogogo!

Just so we're clear this is how the TST is going to go and MAKE SURE IT USES CLASSIC TST

* its going to be a 2v2v2v2 zone ALL the way to the finals(not like that TTT shit)

* its going to have a score of 900

* teammate going through a teammates deadhole gives 10pts

* In the OPENING ROUND, its the first team to win 2 matches and only 1 team goes through

* In the SEMIFINAL, its the first 2 teams to win 2 matches and only 2 teams advance
(Team match scores do not reset upon the first team reaching 2 match wins)

* In FINALS, its the first team to win 3 matches, and of course only 1 team can win

* TST only has 3 rounds, Opening(1&2),Semfinal(1&2),Finals

Also you're going have to either make a custom bracket for the wiki or use something else.

Also server placement for this should be

Opening Round 1a 00:00
EU
EU
USA
USA

Opening Round 2b 00:45
EU
EU
USA
USA

Semifinals 1a 00:45(same time as Opening round 2)
EU

Seminfinals 2b 01:30
USA

Finals 02:00
USA/EU

(the numbers besides the round isn't the actual TIME, its just a reference to when to start and when each round should start)

Yeah, I was wondering if someone had a bracket like that (I think I can use cookies, and just duplicate it until its big enough) Also I was thinking since this will probably be pretty big, I want to have some server moderators to make sure everything is going smoothly (like time, and if a server crashes)

If Cody's CAPSLOCK&boldtext stuff is actually approved by J-Dawg, what happened to the 64 team "big brackets" plan? (Obviously only if we have that many sign-ups.) In that case we could have either a 64-16-4 (3 round) setup with 4 semifinals and one team going through, or a 64-16-8-4 (4 round) setup with quarters and semis having to let 2 teams through, which would be a bit longer. A 64-32-16-8-4 (5 round) is probably too long but possible too.
32 - 16+16 - 8+8 - 4+4 - 4 double elimination anyone? ^^

Also Cody has messed up the timetable in his post, he wants players to play their semis (the 00:45s) at the same time as the opening rounds they qualified from (00:45s).

Amount of servers required:
32 teams:
8 servers (4EU+4NA) with one starting time
4 servers (2+2) with 2 different starting times; has a waiting time between Round 1 and Round 2 for those who win the 1st opening round brackets
64 teams:
16 servers (8+8) with one starting time
10 servers (5+5) with 2 different starting times and 3 or 4 rounds; has a waiting time between Round 2 and Round 3 for those who win the 1st opening round brackets
(12 servers (6+6) with 2 different starting times and 5 rounds; same waiting time)

I am not sure how Soul and I will want to run this (maybe if he posted his input, it would be more beneficial) But I Do want to do the "big brackets" as I said before. I will have to do some meddling with that, but I am positive if we really promote this TST then we can get 64. I want it to be like what cody said, Maybe 4 rounds instead of 3 (like a ladle, a open, quarter, semi and championship) And yes, like any tst it will remain 2v2v2v2 all the way through.

The only problem I have with 3 three rounds is that there will be tons of people, and like any tournament, there is always something that goes wrong, if we can get some volunteer moderators then I will have no problem doing 3 rounds, plus sumo rounds have a time limit, so every match on a opening round should end around a similar time period. Take the WST, we fell behind, but not by a huge amount (is 40 minutes a huge amount? :p)

But yeah, Big Brackets ftw

Vov you must have a reading problem, I'll explain it to you.

Opening round 1 (00:00)
EU(4 teams 2v2v2v2, thats 8 players)
EU(4 teams 2v2v2v2, thats 8 players)
USA(4 teams 2v2v2v2, thats 8 players)
USA(4 teams 2v2v2v2, thats 8 players)

Total Opening round 1: (16 teams, 32 players)

Opening round 2 (00:45)
EU(4 teams 2v2v2v2, thats 8 players)
EU(4 teams 2v2v2v2, thats 8 players)
USA(4 teams 2v2v2v2, thats 8 players)
USA(4 teams 2v2v2v2, thats 8 players)

Total Opening round 2: (16 teams, 32 players)

Total teams: (32 teams , total players 64)

How are you going to try and get 64 teams and 128 players? When WST just pulled in 19 teams and only 57 players.

Semifinal for Opening round 1 starts at 00:45, the same time Opening round 2 starts.

Why do people mess with stuff thats already in place for a good reason.

EPSY PLZ HELP US

Also whoever did this on the tst wiki

Code: Select all

RINCLUDE epsy/sumo/TST/tst-2010-09-2.cfg
RINCLUDE epsy/generic/teamcolors4-1.0.aacfg.cfg
these wont work like that way you guys have it set up.

@Cody: I wasn't aware you meant EU/NA separation in only the opening round. Which doesn't make much sense to me anyways. I was talking about EU/NA separation till finals. Sorry to take something implied by common sense for granted, but I perhaps should have known you are/were reponsible for that and thus should have read read how it went down ~2 years ago and ofc it has to be the same way again!!! [/sarcasm]. My numbers are correct. And please don't you mess it all up by telling the organizers what to do in the way you're trying it. They'll decide by themselves and they'll make it work.

Can we please all calm down? (Also, this is not an image board.)

A. Everyone appreciates your effort in pushing a tournament out of development hell. Thank you, and for my part in it, sorry.

B. It would help get everyone focused if you could decide on and explain the format of the tournament you are running. Right now it does not seem like you have thought it out completely yet. How many teams(=2 players) can enter the tournament? How many servers will you require?

C. The 'Server Settings' section is incomplete. You haven't set a resource repository which contains those configs. Setting http://resource.hashpickup.net/ will work, as advertised in the config files themselves.

Code: Select all

RESOURCE_REPOSITORY_SERVER http://resource.hashpickup.net/

Configs are up and we are accepting any servers that will be donated (hopefully have them!)

Also: There is a big difference between 32 and 64 team brackets, So We decided to have Sign ups Close on October 10th, this will give us a chance to see how many teams we will get, and we will post the brackets the following week on thursday, then the TST sunday :)

When it gets a bit closer to the date, send me a message if I forget to put up a couple servers. Figure I'll hold off while yuns are discussing things and it's still a month away.

With the current config

Code: Select all

RESOURCE_REPOSITORY_CLIENT http://resource.hashpickup.net/
RINCLUDE epsy/sumo/TST/tst-2010.09-2.cfg
RINCLUDE epsy/generic/teamcolors4-1.0.aacfg.cfg
I have the following error:

Code: Select all

[0] Downloading http://resource.hashpickup.net/epsy/sumo/TST/tst-2010-09-2.cfg ...
[0] ERROR: Return value 404 : File not found.

Code: Select all

In http://resource.hashpickup.net/epsy/sumo/TST/ there is not tst-2010-09-2.cfg, but there is a file game-2010.09-2.cfg that advise to do what I did, and that didn't work :
## To include this config:
## RINCLUDE epsy/sumo/TST/tst-2010-09-2.cfg
## Make sure you use this repository first:
## RESOURCE_REPOSITORY_CLIENT http://resource.hashpickup.net/

What did I missed?

---
Also I wouldn't worry about servers. It's not hard to find.
