Re: Sumo league - discussion, interest, brainstorming
just suspend them?
the same cheat could be done with any system, including one that uses servers.

Re: Sumo league - discussion, interest, brainstorming
so it's been up for a bit and several fixes and tweaks have already been made, thanks to those who sent in requests.
what do people think? what should be changed/added/etc? I want this to serve the community as best as possible, and I can't read minds.

Add TST, just to complete it.Concord wrote:so it's been up for a bit and several fixes and tweaks have already been made, thanks to those who sent in requests.

You know where you'll find me.
Re: Sumo league - discussion, interest, brainstorming
How to not report a match? Does it time out after a while or do we just hit submit without filling in players (aka all the same)?
I'm sure it should be one of those two (or both), but there's no how-to on the site. That could be added to it.

Re: Sumo league - discussion, interest, brainstorming
also would it be possible for the match submits to auto refresh? so i know instantly whether someone has joined my match instead of having to slam refresh over and over and forgetting and taking 5 mins to realise i have been challenged
Re: Sumo league - discussion, interest, brainstorming
I don't want to add auto-refresh just because the free host the site is on has a traffic limit.
the matches had been set with an auto expiration date of 3 days, which is like an eternity, I suppose, so I've shortened it to 24 hours. I could shorten it further, like 2 hours or something, but I also can envision it being used as a sort of matchmaking system. If I gave match creators the ability to announce a match time so that people joining could plan to play, for example, a sumobar match on Sunday at 17:00 gmt, would anyone use that?
Also, would it be helpful to allow people to give their matches names? So you could tell people which match to sign up for more easily? Or is that unnecessary?

Maybe a EU/US/Idontcare field for servers (or encourage people to use the name/comment field for it)? I watched some arguing about server location after everyone added in a match, I think knowing servers before the match is a good thing.
A name/comment field would also allow for stuff like "EU server, ping me on IRC" for bilbo.
Also, awesome job on doing all this stuff for us. Thanks!

Re: Sumo league - discussion, interest, brainstorming
added server preferences and match names (I wanted to see if the latter gets used much)
also some gentle color coding based on server preference
also you can sort the ranking table by Rating, Duel Wins, War Wins, Bar wins and Matches played by clicking the table headers now
edit: also, @toursumo.tk works now if anyone cares. Useful to catch fakers I guess, but sort of redundant because of how one must sign up for matches anyway. I don't know how to get a short GID authority, but toursumo.tk is pretty short anyway.
edit 2: more updates:
1.) ranking is now shown (rank as in nth highest rating). criminal that it was missing before really.
2.) war matches now recommend teams that are as fair as possible, according to rating.
3.) players who haven't played a match are hidden from the ranking table.
I'll add tst this weekend. Are people interested in classic 1v1v1v1 as well? I've got some small things on my list as well, but other suggestions are welcome.

Re: Sumo league - discussion, interest, brainstorming
yeh 1v1v1v1 would be good as well, imo as much as possible is best with this system, so we can offer variety, and would any eu hosters be willing to host a sbt server cause the us tour server is terrible for eu players,
Re: Sumo league - discussion, interest, brainstorming
Add as much modes as possible
I'd say tour essentially took up the niche that pickup had.

Re: Sumo league - discussion, interest, brainstorming
hopefully a bit more competitive
I'll start working on tst, classic
more updates:
added dispute stats to ranking table.
more detailed rating break-down in full log match reports.
dispute matches are now stickied to the top of the full log page.
