I just don't know how we should go about dealing with a 3rd server if it doesn't fill up. I mean, we can do it, but it will probably add another hour on to the event. If everyone is Ok with that, fine, but it's Saturday night.

It looks like we will have 3 full servers. Rather than having the finals be first to win 2 matches, should we restrict all meetings to 1 match in order to save time? Tomorrow about an hour before the event I will randomize the teams and place them in the brackets.

EDIT: I hacked together a bracket for tomorrow. I will wait as long as possible before using ]randomteam to fill it, going down the results in order. In addition, I will also put up a backup server for uNk's in case it can't handle the pressure of 16 bikes (not that I can guarantee the backup will be better).

SP will probably register another team.

As for the brackets, rather than giving 4 teams an instant bye, how about just giving two teams a bye to the finals.

So 12 > 6 > 4 > 4

so first server to finish get the bye.

Here's a visual example, if that made no sense (i used paint, don't whine!):

why not go winners of the first 3 matches + the other team with highest average score, aka keep track of what the final scores are, aff them up devide by total number of matches the played. whatever team out of all 3 servers that has the highes moves on to finals with the top 3 teams

Also i can put up a server or 2 if needed

For two matches, then the team limit needs to stop now, with only 10 teams. If you're referring to sinewav's bracket he's set-up, with 4 teams going straight to semi's then you'd still have 8 out 12 chance of playing 3 matches or 4 out of 12 chance of just playing 2, however way you like to see it.

EDIT: Actually kyle is right, maybe pushing the first two from the same server, straight to finals is unfair. First team from all servers to reach two wins could go straight to finals. Then the rest go semi's after the first win. Then finals can be first to two again.

Randomized some teams into the brackets. I doubt everyone will show up, so let's do our best to improvize and get anyone who wants to play into the game.

The following is the authorities list for my personal reference:

Thanks for this tourney Sine, great fun. And AoT UK was acting very nice, I had some lags and slides but nothing really bad.

Congratulations "She Told Me She Was Level 18" on your victory, although I'm a little embarrassed a LoL team won a Tron tournament. I guess we all need to step up our game. :P

Thank you everyone for playing and spectating. I think this was a good 1st run of an event we should see a lot more of in the future. The servers seemed to hold out as expected. I remember 5x5 and 4x4 is much more playable. The finals were held in AoT UK, which is currently the top rated Ladle server. I apologize for the performance if you had problems, but it seems some thought the server fared well.

The event lasted 2.5 hours, which is about what I expected. It was a good call to make the final match 200 points instead of "first to 2 wins." I expect 4TF participation to vary wildly, so we will have to improvise the victory criteria in the future. I dream of 4TF becoming an annual or semi-annual event, perhaps even quarterly.

This thread is now open to congratulations and feedback. Thanks again.
