  • ladle matches are shorter (if it's just one match, and not best 2 out of 3); the timetable gets hardly messed up if two teams don't show
  • loser teams have a second chance, which is the next team they have to beat
  • more teams/more opponents --> more excitement (but that's my opinion)
  • debates about the fairness of a match in which team 1 is American and team 2 European become unnecessary because the brackets can be planned in a way that every team has the chance to play in a server that is hosted in his own continent (even if it loses the first match).

  • more servers are needed (but we have enough)
  • more admins would be recommended if there are problems
  • a bad organisation would cause chaos
  • because there's always at least one server down, there need to be enough backup servers
  • some teams lose earlier than they would when it was best out of 3, some others might win because of this; but this is still speculation.

Maybe the finals should be played best out of 3 again so it's more exciting ;)
I think with a second change is better :)
the brackets should look like this:

The picture show enough :)
but for you ;D

The bold teams won and go on step to right.
the team who lost go 1 step left.
example team 1 won and go 1 step right.
team 2 lost and go 1 step left.
and so on ...

I hate these new brackets. Can't we just keep it like it is?

I don't like it, and I don't think it would even work. If people lose the match, they will probably leave and do something else.. there have been loser matches before and almost no one shows up for that. Also, if you don't wanna lose then practice and practice. We shouldn't adapt the whole ladle to weaker teams, imo.

Did we already have a vote on these "new game brackets"? (lawl)

Too lazy to scroll back.

I'd say no, what say youuu?

I have to agree. However, since this second bracket is a voluntary bracket and doesn't affect the outcome of the Ladle, there is no harm in adding it. But of course, there will be a vote to decide that. How shall we verbalize it?

Add voluntary "loser" bracket? yes|no

And thanks for bumping this thread. Let's try and solidify our discussion by Wednesday and we'll start the official voting thread by week's end.

The only time I remember there actually being loser brackets in a fort game was in Ladle 17. Iirc, we added them the day before and it wasn't really advertised much. No one showed up because they simply didn't know it was supposed to happen.
