would it be possible that the hosters need to sign up the servers just once (because the IP doesn't change very often) and the server names could always stay something like "Tronic Ladle (xy's server)" (always with the same color codes you've posted on the wiki)?

It's always the same servers that are signed up (or at least there are 4-6 that'll always be there).

Yes because we don't want to have dead servers (there were 6 (8 including mine) that weren't running as of yesterday). Also, some server admins may not be available like when PinkTomatoes was away for the last few Ladles. In fact, we didn't know that once and tried using his server since we thought it was available, but he hadn't given anyone admin-like powers so we had to wait till the match restarted to start AND score_hole was on, which was a pain since no one could change it. It takes 10 seconds to sign up your server, so it's really not that big of a deal.

While I feel like I haven't apologised for that, I do now apologise for that. Maybe you should have a nominated emergency admin required on all servers. For me, I was not aware of any upcoming ladles and completely fell out of the loop. It is my suggestion that the ladle servers are labelled unconfirmed after every ladle, and for a server admin to reconfirm it before the next. I do understand however, if you take the viewpoint that in my case I should have removed the server from the list.

I see that it may have hurt my reputation here, and there are better servers out there. However, I do wish to ask why the PinkTomato server secondary server was removed from the {DS} quarter finals section. Curious, if for example, there is a performance issue or similar.

Your server was the secondary server and would be used if both teams were American, but 3 of the 4 teams that could possibly play in that round are European, making it impossible for your server to be used. Since it won't be used, I removed it to eliminate confusion.

I'm up for that; if the next ladle is seeded.

3rd place would make more sense if every team had at least 2 different opponents (like in ww ctf tourneys)

I don't know if everyone is aware of this, but this would be the 3rd anniversary of the first Ladle. Not really huge news but I thought it was interesting. Anyways happy birthday to the ladle, here's to 3 years of good competitions!
You've gone too far, turn back!
