I think I might have a legitimate new team game mode here, anyone willing to give it a shot?

Those circles are flags.
Each team has a flag, but no base to return it to.
Fortress Physics.

I am totally on this.

I will give you owner level access, Concs, so you can not only play with the settings, but /op admins. I am going to change the names of all my TheServerPharm servers to a new naming scheme. This would fit in nicely as TSP [NY or EU] Experimental: The Whalehunt. I set dedicated_idle 24 in all my servers and have them resetting between 3:00 am and 3:30 am EDT. If you decide to change a setting, and want to make it permanent, just pm me the setting change, and I will get it in before the server resets. Same with mods/admins.
Would you prefer it to be in my NY location or my EU location?

Great, I will be sure to include the cvs test files for fortress physics. I have a busy afternoon ahead of me. So, I probably won't get to this until this evening. The settings and map look very interesting.

What are the physics?

Currently they are Fortress Physics (5 rubber, 0.1 delay), with a fortress sized map (500x500)

seems to present several new strategic decisions for a team to make, similar to fortress

defensively, the flag is in the middle of the grind, perhaps a kinked grind could be used that allows for a defender to set up a guard? And offensively, what's the quickest way to get the flag, and be able to hold on to it

Ok, even though this isn't a game yet, we need a new, tougher name. Don't get me wrong, I'm no Captain Ahab, but I know whale hunting is serious business, and quite dangerous. However, it doesn't give any hints about the game mode. If I saw a server named Whalehunt, I would be, like, "is there boats?" (hmm, /me contemplates an underwater, or powerboat-racing moviepack...)

And I can't think of another popular game that this is similar to.

Anyway, it's should be meaner, like Fortress Onslaught. I'm going to start with a few that use the word "flag" and see where we go from there.

Flag Domination
Flag Champions
Super-Flag-Hunt

But I guess the "flag" could be any object of value, like a crown or something. Maybe even a name like "Royal Overthrow".

:mrgreen: I don't know. I have no idea what I'm talking about now, hahaha...

hehe, originally I called it Regicide, that's the name of the map still. I agree we need a better name

I suggest "Flag Czar". It means you have total power over the flag.

Currently the round ends with a deathzone after 3 minutes. Thoughts on this? There must be better ways to end it.
