Durka's Newest Test Server (CTF w/ Fortress Physics)

For things that have to do with those crazy test servers... and yeah. By request of z-man, and, of course, you gotta obey...

Durka's Newest Test Server (CTF w/ Fortress Physics)

Post by DDMJ »

Again, hosted on my home connection (aka it will never be running unless I feel like it and it will lag incredibly).

The idea is simple: Capture the Flag (Fortress? huh?)

Well, here's what the map looks like (note: the flags are in between the spawn arrows and the bases (they didn't show up in the map-preview)):

The 2 bases are secluded at the back (and there's a thin-escape-route-path to them as well (just in case)).

Well, won't that make it easy for you to base camp the opponents zone to stop them from spawning?

No, not true. The only purpose the bases serve is for scoring your team's flag.

I'm experimenting with a different setting by having you spawn exactly 5 seconds after you die (this saves us from the annoying "RESPAWN!" instant chats).

O, and did I mention Fortress?

The physics are the same (rubber, turning, speed, brakes, etc.)

The only minor additional difference is that the walls_length is decreased to only 300 as well as a small grid, which encourages more fighting.

If the server isn't up and I'm on AIM/MSN come and slap me. Otherwise, if I'm not on IM, don't expect the server to be up.

Amazing service no?

Other changes have to do with the scoring:

* Only 5 rounds
* 8 points for winning a round
* 100 limit_score
* 4 points per flag cap
* 1 point per kill

But yea, opinions? (or if you haven't played it (which is probably the case (since the server is rarely online (because I'm lazy))) any future thoughts?).
