Unfortunately If, the programmer of Armabell had some kind of hard drive failure and lost most of his source code.
And since not many people use it he doesn't really want to recode it. Which is fair enough. But I too will miss it.
At least that's what I gathered from here:

http://armagetron.de/forum/de/viewtopic.php?t=9

you can set your system date back to before 1st June 2006, it will work then.

Let this be a lesson: give out the source unless you have strong reason not to.

Perhaps Iceman can hack the exe?

Can you get it converted to well-formed python code while you're at it?

i've made a small wrapper program to start the plugins (mapeditor & textcolorshelper).
you can download it here: http://www.vergin.org/files/aps.exe.
usage is simple, start "aps.exe" with the full path/filename of the plugin-exe.
(e.g.: aps.exe "C:\Program Files\ArmaBell\plugins\armabellmaped.exe")

dont forget to use the doublequotes when there are spaces in pathnames...

@z-man: Your right with this lesson, but sorry Iam sure Iceman is not able to crack the exe - but i allow to try it!

Its true, I told Sylv howto run the PlugIns. Thankyou Sylv to realize the wrapper.

Iam sure - if there is a lil bit more time for me - I rewrite the Bell if nobody else was faster with it.

I miss my Bell too. :o

Tragically: some days after creating armabell-project in sourceforge.net (to make source public) I lost my HDD.

You're welcome! I've to thank you for the deciding hints.
i'm on sick leave these days and have to stay home this week - it's a lil bit boring without any tasks to perform. to stay in bed all day long isnt that funny.
so i'll try to build another version of an "ArmaBell"-like tool for windows.

edit: iF told me that he found some older (not the latest) sources of ArmaBell 0.0.7 - he's able to complete his work - so there's no need to make a new one anymore.

greetings
Sylv

 no, there is no need to rename anything.
you can use aps.exe ("armabell plugin starter") to run the armabell plugins ("armabellmaped.exe" & "armabelltextcolors.exe" - both located in the armabell plugins folder) without armabell running.

aps.exe needs the path&filename/of/the/plugin.exe as command line parameter.

assuming that you're talking about the map-editor:
you should ask iF himself at the armabell-support forum - i've just made the wrapper, not armabell, neither the plugins. and (sorry @iF:P ) i didnt use them...

you should run aps.exe, not the plugin itself. please read the above posts carefully.
aps.exe needs the path&filename/of/the/plugin.exe as command line parameter.
maybe ed can send you some additional explanations - he got it up in seconds.
sorry, my english is too bad. :?
