Example Maps (Xml)

Designed a level that creates new, exciting, and challenging Armagetron game play? Or maybe just something funky. Put it right here.

Example Maps (Xml)

Post by Stinger »

I am currently designing my own map and am looking for different map examples to help me on my way.

I have inkscape but have never used it so i intend to use xml for it all but could really do with seeing examples (both xml and a pic to show what type of map).

Does anyone know of anywhere I can see this sort of information??

Try looking at the Crazy-Tronners site. All the CTWF maps are there with XML and image previews.

Tell her "the only noise I want coming out of the kitchen is from the blender, not your mouth - now finish making my goddamn margaritas!"

That's a joke, BTW. The real way to stop her nagging is a long and complicated process that takes incredible effort, commitment, and sensitivity. This isn't the forum for that kind of advice though; and if you do need it, I normally get paid to give it out.

Well, I have almost completed my map in xml and i would like to view it is there any nifty little place I can do this outside the grid?

I am sure that I saw a link to somewhere you can view your map if it is in xml but the link just lead to a 404 so anyone know of anything feel free to tell me. :D

Cheers for the links to preview the map, wroks like a charm.

Maybe someone can help me out with something now, I have done my map ENTIRELY in xml (after being plotted on graph paper by hand) and I have set a arena size of 500x500 with some further walls inside the arena, The thing is that I actually wish for the arena to be a bigger (maybe 700x700) if I set the map as is and then use SIZE_FACTOR to increase the arena size will it adjust the positioning of the Walls inside the arena accordingly or will it end up with the walls within being, for example, weighted towards one corner as opposed to being central?

If this does not make sense please say so and i will endaevour to explain bettter!

All elements of the map will be scaled alike, unless there are bugs.

You could just try it and put it on map viewer...

But yeah, it should be ok

or you can use that map transformer here and here to scale it by a factor of 1.4 in both x and y (unless there is a bug)

Not that SIZE_FACTOR 1 won't be nearly exactly 1.4x. :)

I think I am having a bad day as I cannot test my map in a Local Game on my own PC.

Can someone explain what to do just to test it locally?
