Armagetron Advanced Map Tools.

Designed a level that creates new, exciting, and challenging Armagetron game play? Or maybe just something funky. Put it right here.

Armagetron Advanced Map Tools.

Post by ed »

I've put together (with lots of help - Thanks!) a collection of Armagetron Map Creating Tools here:
http://eddie.plantpeanuts.co.uk/maptools/

I take no credit for writing any of the tools. I just pulled them all together in one place.

If I've missed any. Or you find any bugs, have any idea's, etc. Please send them my way.

I found this the other day while reading about GIMP. It seems that the new version supports svg files.

It also means that GIMP can create paths from SVG files saved in other programs, such as Inkscape or Sodipodi, two popular open-source vector graphics applications. This is nice because those programs have much more powerful path-manipulation tools than GIMP does. You can import a path from an SVG file using the Paths dialog.
...and wouldn't use GIMP either to do paths :)

trust me, paths in inkscape are way easier (and handier) in inkscape than in GIMP

one tip for inkscape: only use paths, forget about the rectangles and other

Actually it should all be fine except text, which you have to convert to a path first (Path→Object to Path). You can do that with all objects :-)
There's no place like ::1

yes that is what i do to have the paths properly ordered in the conversion to aamap.
but the gimp suggestion is for users who cant get inkscape to work. or to just have an other option though it still would be interesting to actually try it to see the differences.

New feature.
If you generate a map using any one of the Map Generators, as well as creating the map and giving you a preview it will also give you a line of text something like:

Code: Select all

MAP_FILE mapgenerator/voodoorace/20080319201228-0.0.1.aamap.xml(http://eddie.plantpeanuts.co.uk/maptools/resource/mapgenerator/voodoorace/20080319201228-0.0.1.aamap.xml)
You can add this line to your autoexec.cfg file or use arma's new paste feature and paste it directly into the console on your local game in order to play the map you just generated.

It's over 4 years old. I can't remember what's at that link (it's been down for some time), but a few of those tools are still around.

Map Transformer
Ellipse Generator
SVG converter (@ CT)
And a brand new Map Previewer!

What sinewav said is nice, but http://crazy-tronners.com/maptools same as what ed's was, except the map transformer that stopped working on most browsers is not working at all because i have not enabled it.

Why you guys keep that link secret? Clicking "Map Tools" on the CT site just brings you to the SVG/Previewer.
