Lobster tub will be down untill further notice, a lightning storm fried the power supply...it spun in... there were no survivors...

I'd still like to do that server project Lucifer

The Power supply did damn good considering it was already inside of a house fire, Covered in scorch marks.

I can't understand why some people don't use surge protectors, simply because as long as I can remember almost every thing electronic that I have has been on them. Never lost anything to any sort of power surge either :).

It was hooked up to a surge protector. Clearly not much protecting was done.

I've lost mobo's to really crazy ram, but Gomes was the keeper of the tub.

I don't think anymore harm was done, just needs a new power supply.

what do surge protectors protect, anyway?
a while ago, while my server was on, a storm came to town and the power went out. all of my files were gone, and the os was broken. luckily, i had backups on another computer that wasnt on at the time.
and the surge protector power bar didnt do nuthin about it.

they protect the hardware, not the software
did your computer (physically) survive the storm ?
if so, then the protector did it's job.

ps. you do realize this thread is 2 years old?
