A few examples:
> You search for 0.4 development, it ignores the 4.
> Seems to block the search results on some of the OSes (mac, windows)

I know, you can always use google, but still...

Yep—Search is basically useless [Jun 06, 2011].

I think switching to MySQL Fulltext in phpBB's settings would improve search.

The poor search in phpBB is well known across the world, but few people know about using Google's "site" search, which is what I use whenever I am looking for widely used generic terms. For those who don't know, to search a specific website from Google, use the syntax:

Code: Select all

site:domain.com search terms
For instance, searching "Fortress Brawl" on this board returns 1451 results, whereas typing site:forums3.armagetronad.net "Fortress Brawl" in Google returns just 68 results.

Yep, I always use google with "site:armagetronad.net" to search the forums.
