Authenication Problem with a Friend

Post by XD|VIPer »

My friend is trying to make a forums login, but he has a precondition failed when logging in.
I even tryed.
[2] User 2 requests authentication as "MuFOPimpMaster@forums".
[0] Password request sent to user 2, username "MuFOPimpMaster", method md5, message "Login with Authority forums".
[2] Login failed, reason: Unknown error code 412 returned, content "PRECONDITION_FAILED: Login again at the authority.".
What does it mean? How do you fix it?

You exceeded the maximum allowed number of login attempts. In addition to your username and password you now also have to solve the CAPTCHA below.
I enter the username and password and solve the CAPTCHA and it goes back to the same log in screen with a captcha. What is going on with that?

Yes... that is really strange.

Try to clear the cache of your browser and try again later. If you can't wait, try using another browser if that would help.

Apart from that I really have no idea unless Tank or Z-Man show up to solve that for you.

Silly question: are you absolutely sure you are entering the correct password for that account in the forum login? As far as I can tell, this is what is supposed to happen if you repeatedly enter the wrong password.

Or are you able to "freeze" someone's account by trying to log into it over 'n over? Basically locking them out. Trolls have done less productive things ..

I would be mildly surprised if the phpbb guys haven't thought of that one. Trolls can force you into captcha mode, obviously, but I'd say that's about it.

I'm entering the password my friend told me to... so... Unless my friend is wrong, or he forgot the password himself
