Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
Ok, why do links no longer open in a new window? Actually, I like this better, I just need to develop new habits.
@Lackadaisical:
I'm stunned and amazed that w3c approves using em to size fonts. That's the one unit I'd say can't be used to size fonts, because it's defined by the font and its size!
I'll redo the fonts on my website using x-small/medium/etc and see how that goes. I'm curious how that'll work out.
I'm not surprised at all they suggest not using either px or pt, those are units I've only found useful when I need to correct for inconsistencies in browser implementation. I've usually tried to use percentages for font sizes, but that's a pain to deal with, really. (px is also useful when spacing elements on the screen, in which case you really are spacing by pixels, but then it doesn't make sense to use px when the element is surrounded by relatively-sized components. Obviously you still shouldn't use px for print stylesheets)

Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
Could you post a screen shot(s) pointing these things out?
http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/6232/screen1ran.jpg (imageshack.us)
http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/6720/screen2ufa.jpg (imageshack.us)
Two examples on the first screenshot.
1: Between "Feeling...." and "Upgrading..."
2: Between " Twentieth..." and "Elimination..."
Second screenshot has two as well/
1: Less of an issue, but there appears to be a border missing between "Armagetron Multi-Player" and "Competitions".
2: Between "Servers" and "Teams"
Apologies if it was intended that way and I missed understanding that. Hopefully these help to some degree.

Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
What browser are you using? Some of the missing borders look like a scaling problem, like when an image is scaled and lines disappear because of the scaling algorithm.
The borders are there for me, Firefox 3.somethingorother.

Sorry for continuously editing my prior post. I was attempting to get the BB code correct.
You were absolutely right Lucifer. Much thanks. I got the impression from earlier posts, most likely incorrectly, that the text size increase was something that I had screwed with so I simply decreased it using crtl -. Much thanks for correcting me and my apologies for bringing up a non-existent bug.

Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
Could there be a color change or something to mark which subforms have new posts in them. On the old form we have the little icon that changed colors.

Re: Upgrading to phpBB3
Works okay for me. I got 11px instead of the 12px in my prefs, but that's close enough. 10 is just about the point where it gets too pixelated for my taste, and that's avoided now.
Try setting Safari -> Preferences -> Appearance to something you don't think is giant. And shiver as you find more abuse.

But why would I do that? All other sites appear normal except this one.Jonathan wrote:Try setting Safari -> Preferences -> Appearance to something you don't think is giant. And shiver as you find more abuse.

The search function makes me sad. Can some one teach me how to search effectively with this new one?

I've hooked up the @forums armathentication to the new user database. Everyone will need to login anew to re-activate their authentication.

Radian's long location is messing up the layout, it seems.

About the 1em text: why not just offer an alternate stylesheet? Make it 1em by default, and the offer an alternate which sets it to a percentage of 1em.
