Hello.

Post by TheLemur »

Hi I am completely new to this and I did read the stickies and make sure if there were other threads answering my question. So if there is one, can you please just link it to me and close this one? Lol.

Anyway, I went to the download page and I went to the packages one where it says this is what I need to play. Exactly which one is that I have to download?

it depends on your Operating System.

linux (unix-based): bin package (x86)
linux (unix-based) with a 64-bit processor: bin package (x86_64)
mac os x (power pc processor): dmg (ppc)
mac os x (new intel processor): dmg (universal ppc/x86)
windows: exe (gcc)
windows (if the other one doesn't work): exe (vc6)

i hope that helps quite a bit.

I assume you are running windows.

tbh I don't know the reason for posting links to gcc and VC++ versions, but I am pretty sure that from the users point of view there is no difference. Download either, and if it works, all is good. If it does't, try the other :)

I am sure that either one will be ok for you though.

Welcome. Sorry about the confusion. As matthewtoldme says, it depends on your operating system. If you still need help, post that and we'll see what we can do.

You clarified it so much. Thanks! I dragged my curser over the later ones in the list and i noticed how it said win32.exe. I saw it was an .exe but I wasn't using Windows32 so I wasn't sure if that mattered. o_O I tried it, and it worked! Thanks.

does this mean you are using windows x64 or that you (understandibly) don't know that win32 applies to anything from windows 95 to windows me and anything from windows NT 3.5 to Windows 2003 (including xp) ?
