In settings.cfg under "cycle networking settings." Or, you can just type it in the console when you feel like seeing or not seeing it. I find it very helpful, but yeah, a little distracting sometimes.

The simple answer that |Pipe| was looking for is:

In the menu, set "Game --> Network Game --> Network setup --> Lag-O-Meter: Off"

As for 'settings.cfg' wtf? It's stored in 'user.cfg' as "LAG_O_METER 0". '0' means off and '1' means on btw.

Sorry, I didn't know user.cfg overrides settings.cfg. Thanks for pointing that out. But as far as simple goes, I can't think of anything simpler than typing LAG_O_METER 0 in the console IMO. Anyway, it's nice to see all the various ways to turn options on and off.

Actually, the only time I ever considered it was the other day in my racing server. Since you can't core dump anyone, I thought I would just turn them off. But then I realized the lag meter can help you see your opponents far in the distance, and that is helpful too. So yeah, I agree, I don't see why you would want to turn it off. Maybe just for a screenshot?
