Swampland - 2.7.1 (test)

Post by Swampy »

I admit it - I crushed under the weight of Linux and decided to buy XP Pro for the box and see how well the server will run in a Windows environment for a while.

I have a lot of quick-hit type things that I haven't been able to commit time to under Linux that I can tackle in Windows. It's me being lazy. Here's the deal though - I'll put it back to running on Linux if the performance isn't as good, but my plans will suffer.

I would like to get a syslog server running internally and get a Web site running for the servers I host. I would also like to get some home automation type stuff running eventually and that's like an impossible dream for me at this point. Too many things are easier in Windows for me to spin my wheels trying to get them working under Linux. I guess I'm just repeating so I'll move on..

Let me know how it seems to run for you if you don't mind. -thanks

I've noticed some ping spikes — my ping will jump from 70 to 250 or so for a short time. Other than the stat files being reset it is all good. ;)

Thanks for chimming in Nemo! I've been wondering how it's been running.

When do you see those spikes most often? Is it during the day or at night?
