Well, my keyboard setup would be wacked for anybody else, but it works for me (all keys need to be close so I can reach them quickly). Here goes:
left = left arrow
right = right arrow
brake = down arrow
glance left = delete
glance right = page down
glance back = end
move camera left = home
move camera right = page up
zoom in = scroll lock
zoom out = home
chat = t
console = '
camera = c
aaaarrgh = f
Top Three Keyboard Annoyances:
1. I'm always hitting brake (down) instead of the direction I want to turn. Result = Boom.
2. In a frenzy to turn left I often press control, which is setup to be "sticky" through the Accessibility Options in the Windows control panel. So, next time I press Escape to get rid of a menu or exit chat mode Windows sees a "control-esc" which brings up the start menu. Result = Game screen freezes because I left that window, and I'm dead on return.
3. In a frenzy to turn right I often press Numeric Keypad 0, which screws me because it's (lol) mapped through Accessibility Option to be a left click! Depending on where I left the cursor, because I don't play in full screen mode I might click a different window. Result = See Result #2.

I have a keyboard set up very similar to this. I use the arrow keys, but I use the "s" key for chatting. I removed "v" as the brake (I only use brake on Nixda or Armagetron.de), changing it to the down arrow. And yes, the "f" key is definitely arrrrrgggh when hit in the middle of a game.Majination wrote:Well, my keyboard setup would be wacked for anybody else, but it works for me (all keys need to be close so I can reach them quickly). Tank, under Windows the F key switches between Full Screen mode and Windowed mode. Not only does the screen black out for a moment, but the grid has moved or is otherwise visually different enough to disorient you. The F key is a death trap if pressed accidentally. Not sure if it does the same under Linux.
n54, hehe, I used to kick ass at Doom 2, too. I had a great time competing against people who could run WHILE turning AND shooting. I had an interesting technique, though, and I usually owned... Too bad FPS's moved on to jumping/ducking while on the move, because as you can imagine it's damn near impossible to do THAT any good using one "finger."
I have a little ways to go yet in ArmageTron,... But I'm getting betttterr....!! 80+ matches so far. =)

(When i say 'Salticidae' i mean 'Jumping Spider'...and it's very very small! HAVE NO FEAR!)
Less is less, more is more! More is better and twice as much is good too... not enough is bad and too much is never enough except when it's just about right!
typically (99%) of the time i use ins&del on keypad for left/right & left control to brake
i suck at doublebind driving
I have a giant jumping spider in my room all year, he's my new pet.
-----------------
oh! i have no key bound to fullscreen toggle
also, i dont use look keys, ever, but i use a custom cam

zxc = turn left (never use z)
,.- = turn right (never use -)
right shift = glance right
left shift < (the key between z and the left shift. It will differ from keyboard to keyboard) = glance left (never use left shift)
left alt, space = brake
right alt = glance back
So yes I have lots of double and triple binding. I just got bored of losing because in the excitement, my hands moved a bit. But as u see, there are many keys that I never use (well unsell my hands move and then I dont get to notice it)
