In fortress organised games:
When one team wins = 1 Round
10 rounds or when one team reaches 100 pts = 1 Match
When game is played first to 2, 3 or more won matches = ???

Any ideas? Simply a game? A Battle/Brawl maybe?

Code: Select all

[17:08] <epsy>: let's imagine clan A challenges clan B in 3 CA matches
[17:08] <epsy>: so, you have
[17:08] <epsy>: 1 match = 10+ rounds
[17:08] <epsy>: ?? = 3 matches ?
[17:09] <BennoBenassi>: 3 matches = 3 maches :D
[17:09] <epsy>: yeah but what if the 3 matches are 2 matches? :<
[17:09] <epsy>: call it a meet?
[17:10] <Hell5pawn>: scrim?
[17:10] <BennoBenassi>: teh war!
[17:10] <epsy>: and if it's a tourney ? :|
[17:10] <BennoBenassi>: its called clanwar anyway
[17:10] <Hell5pawn>: war
[17:11] <BennoBenassi>: clanwar consist of single matches or and games
[17:11] <BennoBenassi>: while i would call games like 1v1 ca tdm
idk, I'd still go for a "meet"

round, match, game
isn't it?
currently a standard ladle game consists of best of 3 matches
each match up to 100
war is more like the protracted rivalry between clans
hold the line

I've also been fond of meet. Bout is good too, maybe better than meet actually. I even like battle, which sounds nice when talking about "fortress".

Yep, and in the Ladle, I've often referred to the opening round as the "opening round of games."

"Game" just sounds more natural, while it might seem like a good idea to call them meets or wars, I can't imagine it actually getting picked up. Because you never hear people actually refer to them with these weird names (Battles, Bouts, Meets, Skirmishes.) there is no reason to refer to them as such.

Wanna have a sumo battle, corn? Best of 3 matches, I'll spot you 300 points per match.

nph = no point hole (the latest craze ^^)
casual (e.g. "GTFO you casual") = a compliment used by members of certain clans in certain servers to express their respect for players who aren't part of a clan :pacman: :sdot: :sdot:

Rapture of the deep/ROD for short.
I won't explain this until next ladle because I haven't seen anyone else doing it, except Raiden after i told him how to do it. It's fairly easy. I don't know if I'm the first player who used it, but it worked always and there's no explanation for me why it wasn't used by anyone else who thought of it. I haven't seen it in wars or ladles so I guess I'm the one who can claim authorship :P
No hints except the name, you've my apologies. You'll see this in regular fortress games more often if I'm not wrong. Perhaps it will even become one of the most used strategies in G5s.

I made drawings of the scenarios we experienced in the Ladle, that's how I got the idea.
It hasn't got a single disadvantage, and you can combine it with any other strategy. Your individual skill or experience doesn't matter.

For the gentle playfortress/zomgholers readers:

But once again, don't expect too much - it's quite simple once you understood it, like everything in Armagetron. That's why I'm not going to debunk it before Ladle 42.
