Fortress: Which way should you break as Position 1?
Fortress: Which way should you break as Position 1?
Just curious on which way people think is the correct way to turn when you break from the initial grind, this is ignoring sealing center since you double back on both sides after breaking. Just pretend no one is going to go down your center for this scenario. Feel free to leave an explanation too.
You've gone too far, turn back!

Re: Fortress: Which way should you break as Position 1?
I think right, however it is not always feasible to do this and may not win ladles either. My reasoning is quit simple. I choose this was only because of the locations of the other positions. Position 2 is on the left and 3 is on the right, that's why I feel splitting towards position 3 is the correct way.

i did that once for our clan but it's not a real strat so it probably won't matter if i post it here
I could also do it the other way round but i'm a right-hander so maybe that's why I feel more comfortable if i close it in the way which is shown below.

Yea Word that is how I do it...
Re: Fortress: Which way should you break as Position 1?
Right, probably because the left side is going to be stronger 50% of the time, like as kyle said
Even word is including it in diagrams; which is nice, btw
It's good to see that this has become the de facto way of blocking the middle now (at last)Van-hayes wrote:this is ignoring sealing center since you double back on both sides after breaking.

Here's an interesting diagram I made. Note that it requires early splitting:

Yeah, it looks like you could easily outspeed green on the left, and go between green and yellows tail into the zone.. If you time it right yellows tail will probably be hanging around longer than greens (since it's going wide and back without grinding anything) so the defender can't really do much against it.

yeah lack what i usually ended up doing was sealing on cyan and then coming back onto golds wall and going out the side

Emphasis on EARLY, so no you can't go around green unless you maybe beat them to the wall.DDMJ wrote:Note that it requires early splitting

Then you will give up any advantage you would gainfrom wing. One of the reasons we were able to beat ct in the ladle was the ability of delta to get by his wing by breaking late
Re: Fortress: Which way should you break as Position 1?
my personal favorite is to split even with position 2, leaving no overlapping wall to grind on. To blocl 1/3 just go right, or after turning go straight ahead, or if you are playing defensively seal it.
Re: Fortress: Which way should you break as Position 1?
That's really tough to get the hang of Conc... akira has a very unique strategy...right wing breaks early and he turns right, and then double binds back to the center wall, touches the wall but not as tight..and then continues straight. He uses very little rubber and most likely the center attacker would die.
Re: Fortress: Which way should you break as Position 1?
Oh and I am shocked by the fact that the one and only person that chose left first was me...seeing as how 4/4 centers I faced last ladle went to the left first as well lol

left to you is actually right , No i'm sure you knew that, Like I said in mine, It may not help you win the ladle, but in just regular play, I feel that that is the polite was to go.PsYkO wrote:seeing as how 4/4 centers I faced last ladle went to the left first as well lol
