GANKERS !

Recently in Fortress I've begun to see a number of players complaining about "ganking". It appears to be the newest moaning, with people now moved on from holing.

Basically, it turns out that it means attackers crowding the zone to get the points and win the round, for example after an attacker has broken defense and cut the zone in half so to speak, another attacker(s) come in and capture the zone.

When asking the people who scream "bah, gankers", "omg ganked", "ganktastic", etc, they dont have a reason behind their "argument" as to me, they just see it as another way to complain to try and piss people off or hope that people wont do it to them in the future so they win.

How I see things is, its a team game - to win for the team, you need to either kill everyone on the other team or capture the zone. Now to me it seems the easiest and generally fastest way is to capture the zone - so what is the problem in crowding a zone so your team wins?

I just dont get it. Plus, Whats the betting the moaners even "gank" the opponents defense in important matches such as AFL, ladles or clan wars...

The horde raid group was ganking the entire noob zone!

Gank - Gang Kill.

The same people who complain about holes have started complaining about ganking.

Ignore them, silence them even, but don't expect to stop them.

The way I like to show them how I feel about their cries is follow a team member through a hole made in their defence and overpower their base.

If you're going to create slang, make sure it already isnt used. Ganked is slang for stolen as are any derivatives. Who ever is using this word to describe crowding [expletive deleted]...Why not call it what it is?
Its CROWDING not "ganking"!

As for people complaining about holes/crowding... I think we've been through this before... You can disable both options/tactics on the server.

Prediction what will be next: Xoring. Any act that increases your team's xore, err, score. I hereby declare all acts of xoring lame. I mean, what kind of player are you if you can't win without xoring?

Traditional xoring is not unlike scoring as long as !anding.

Ganking is what everyone does. well i won't if it is 2 vs 1 but anything eles cram as many people from your team in a zone to win.

I thought ganking was when it was 5 on 1 and they holed on purpose and everyone went in.

Heh. I always thought that the whole point of fortress play was to get as many people in the other zone as possible.

I love these last-minute script rewrites, now we have to learn all new lines!

well if it's just 3 people on the server then yes I fullly agree with how it is cheap cause nothing stops them from just speeding all the way to the defender and going around him into the zone. Unless you make a square in the zone (wont go all the way outside of the zone protecting it.

Xoring! Good one. I think I will use it. It got me inspired too:
Quilling. Any act of eliminating the enemy players, possibly but not limited to the purpose of augmenting one's odds of survival or of winning.

And to be sure one can shout some leet term to really anybody:
Taquing: Any act of gaining possession of an enemy zone, with or without elimination or exclusion of possible defender.

Yeah, 3 players on a server is a special case, one where I'd prefer to see the server be a sumo server while they're there. Basically have it at 4 or 6 players go into fortress, and then stay in fortress regardless of changes until the match is over. (but we've talked about this before

)
