Is the new floor good?

It has already been remarked that it may be a bit too dark, on some monitors, it barely shows at all. Well, I play with floor turned off most of the time, so I'm no judge.

Yeah, if floor_RGB are all meant to be at 0.1, I don't get the point. Nothing is visible, just black. I don't use the floor either so I can have a decent framerate, but for those who do use the floor I think it should be brighter.

beautiful

when i reduce the rim wall
and get rid of the arrows under the bikes
it is really beautiful

oh
apart from the zig-zags on the trails
since
if you are in cockpit view
they really grate on the nerves when grinding

oh
with low rim wall
the walls look like piano keys
kind of
jazzzzzzzy
hold the line

OK, I just started a random version that was still working on my computer (something in the 0.2.8.0 betas) and 0.1 looked pretty good. But when I set it to 0.06 (what it would look like with 2.2 gamma, but on my 1.8 gamma) it was light enough to see, but just didn't look good.

Ah, perhaps I should have mentioned this. I've calibrated my monitor to 2.2 gamma (PC standard) rather than 1.8 gamma (Mac standard).

i've already changed all textures and visual settings.
so i needed to change it all back to default.

is this new floor texture for just displaying grid lines?
and it is colored black, and grid lines are dark grey.
is it for evryone to see bikes that colored either bright or dark?
hmm with this black floor, nothing is affected by changing floor color except grid lines.
i also think this should be more brighter. more blueish color would fit with new wall texture.
just for example, i tried R/G/B = 0.04/0.06/0.15. it's more suitable with this wall texture.
personally, i don't like something colored just black or gray, it's boring.
if i'd want to see the color that what i modified, floor texture should be graylscale. (i'll add modified texture later)

if i had no idea to change textures by myself,
the shape is okay, it has little meaning what shape it has.
just for me, i don't like the shape of corner/grid lines.

*ah maybe my suggestion was wrong, cuz i set gamma to 1.8.
*and my textures are displayed brighter than display on PC gamma.
*i couldn't set it for some reason and also fogot about it.

Could you all try .2 for all values and r=.1, g=.2, b=.3 for a dark blue? It's hard to find a dark color that looks even acceptable on all monitors.

now i set gamma to 2.2 for making some graphix, textures, configuring colors.

this texture is just modified the one included in rc_3 Lucifer made.
just changed the main color to #999999
the value is fine for me with gamma is set to either 1.8 or 2.2.
and texture is also affected by the color is set to what i set.
i set floor_RGB to 0.2/0.3/0.4.
*sorry too late to post the texture. how do you feel it?

z-man, you meant only dark colored bikes?
i tried both of it and set my bike's color black(0/0/0) and other darken colors.
at least i can see my tails on my screen using this texture.
(it doesn't look black tail, grey tail. but a little darken floor anyway.)

my opinion is that floor texture is colored by gray scale, and just change the value of floor_RGB to fit with rim wall texture.

Since this is the floor thread, I meant FLOOR_R/G/B with the numbers :)

I think your texture is way too bright overall with your color settings; the basic idea of brighting up the middle is fine. But on my monitor, I can hardly make out the gridlines unless I turn the colors way up; it's a bad LCD with low contrast, so that may not mean much.

ah yeah honestly i thought so that it may be too bright.
i usually use the value #666666 or something for grayscale with AA textures.
my mind is empty with fixing colors for most people can see it correctly on their own screen.
i'll ask some other guys about it. or someone please tell me.
well, i'll check it out on internet and make my mind clear.

I tested both settings and I find both to be a bit too dark for my taste.
I'm currently using 0.3 for all values. I see problems with dark blue floor colors, as some (blue) cycle walls are difficult to see.

I guess player colors are floor-color-corrected BEFORE they are blended with the team's color ? (might be wrong though...)
