Yes, you just need to install and confiure apache and php. OS X is unix, so it'll support it. Just google "Apache os x" and you'll no doubt find a package you can download and install.

And no, I don't like your new shoes. Maybe you could sway me by posting a picture...

Mac OS X already has apache installed, but PHP is not. Download the PHP package from <http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/php/>. You will be hosting the forum on your computer?

Edit: And I forget if MySql is installed on default systems. I think it isn't. You can download the mysql package from the same site.

Yea, the site is down. You'd probably be better of hosting the site on a paid webhost if you don't know what you are doing. If you host it on your computer, you'd have to leave it on all the time, :( . Alot of webhosts have setups now where you can click a button and it will install the forum software for you.

Hey nemo, I don't mean to be a grammar nazi, but "you're" means "you are". I think you want "your" in your signature...

Hello Limette, nice shoes!

Doesn't OS X come with PHP preinstalled, but not enabled? Anyway the link for PHP is:
http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/php/

You will also want to install mysql, I think. You can get it from the official site, http://www.mysql.com in a nice install package. Get mysql 4.1.*

In my opinion you guys should collect the 100 bucks a year needed and get a space on some hosting co.
Another option could be to use some free forum/mailing list such as yahoogroups.

MAMP - Macintosh, Apache, Mysql and PHP
NOTE: You must install MAMP in /Applications. against /Users/yourhome/Applications or any other directory.

XOOPS - dynamic web content management system
NOTE: Once you dearchive the downloaded file, it contains folders(html, docs, extras)
XOOPS uses only html directory and it should be placed in htdocs under MAMP folder.

first, you need to create a database for brah brah brah...
