Re: IP Finder

Re: IP Finder
sure we do, if that person is causing any real trouble but we also keep ourself on professional level and as good admins not do stupid things like... you can finish that for yourself

This has been implemented already by Luke-Jr, it was the 'aka' command on IRC/armabot.AI-team wrote:No , this would be a pure abuseSlov wrote:would it be possible if you just type the name of a player and it shows you under what names he played?
It's no longer available though.

Didn't aka just record everytime someone changed their nick in game?AI-team wrote:And a good thing, too.madmax wrote: It's no longer available though.
The ease at which you can get someones ip or the ammount of people capable of viewing them in popular servers doesn't really justify simply searching for a nick as abuse
& I'm not sure 'criminal records office' is very fitting Word
Re: IP Finder
perhaps we will change that but we liked the abbreviation "AACRO" which sounds better than ip finder....Hoax wrote:I'm not sure 'criminal records office' is very fitting Word
imagine someone saying "there's this strange guy applying for our clan...let's check the aacro!" lol

Rather easy for anyone to become an admin.G5 wrote:The IP address lookup should be private or for admins only ...
Suffice it to say, I won't be submitting my logs to this thing.
I think people should be able to play with some level of anonymity. (I don't even allow myself to view /msg's when I'm logged in.) Legitimate, cross-server troublemakers are easily enough, and better, dealt with on a case-by-case basis, on the mutual cooperation of individual server owners.

Re: IP Finder
I don't like it that much, either. Yeah, I provided some code, but that code happens to prevent it from returning a million addresses at once. That will at least keep it in check.

Re: IP Finder
If you didn't cause any trouble nobody is interested in your other aliases - you can just ask an admin to get all aliases of a certain player but now you can also do that for yourself when you have his IP (which means you need access to this person's IP before you can do anything.)Phytotron wrote:I think people should be able to play with some level of anonymity.
Re: IP Finder
nah thats not true if people see someone that has just a little skill and has a name that no one ever saw before.. then everybody wants to know who he is :Y
Re: IP Finder
you still need his IP to find out who he is
Re: IP Finder
I have seen players announce each others' IP's right there on the grid. Some servers even announce IP's when a player enters the grid like ###.###.??? or w/e. I'm not the savviest of players by a longshot, but it seems this information is readily available and easy enough to find if you're clever.
