New Server: Crosseyed & Painless

Post by Word »

check it out, it's a team server! :)

you don't need to worry about non-grinders; and as long as you don't teamkill anyone intentionally your teammates should able to survive it.

I'm going to make another moviepack for this ;)

Stop changing those mindistance settings until you know what they do!

Played it, and loved it! =D
It's best with more players in my opinion.

Good stuff, I enjoy it.

The amount of rubber works well with the speed/cycle_delay and the fact that u can't really adjust means you have to make decisions quickly. Cycle_accel_rim usually messes things up, but here it adds to the fun and is pretty well balanced.

Have you tried it on a ctf map? Could be quite interesting (but maybe with a lower size_factor, like -3 or even -4).

Wow, I am impressed with this new gamemode!

I agree, it does become more fun with more players.

Love open play(not being restricted to a circle).

Also love how it requires the use of glance keys or the minimap.

Could be put on a better server tho :/

I give it an 'A'.

thanks for the friendly replies, here's a quick update of the settings; i changed the score_limit (and sp_score_limit) to 50 because matches lasted too long (but i did that before you said you like it so I think that's ok :) )

about maps, we tried some others, using tunnels and death zones but it was a lot more confusing and somehow it made it easier to run

Now that I think about it, even now it is kindof easy to run.

Solution:

Have very slowly expanding deathzones that are located behind each team start.

Players will eventually be forced to play around the center box thing which will result in a death by zone (which should take away more points than killing an enemy player) or killed by the enemy

i think it's easy to kill runners because you can always use the rim to follow

we changed the score system a bit (score_win/sp_score_win is 4) and updated the map; there are some small cuts now (doesn't mean you have to use them  )

I like the idea of a slow deathzone (let's say.. 0.5 expansion?) on a random place on the map (randomness 1), starting as very small (0.1 initial_size). Thoughts/feedback? I mean, since the map is shaped like it is, the last fight will end up in a small box, and having to camp/maze at that speed and 3 rubber seems like something I'd like to try x)

Now that we got a winzone (dlh's proposal :) ) the whole focus of the players changed and everyone tries to get in the center. I'm not sure if i like it as it is since I preferred just to have a classic last team standing server...but it's a good place to to practice precision.
Another (good!) suggestion of dlh was that we use a zone which gives points whenever someone passes it - but that will require something like zones v2

That could be done with a parser script.

after playing with some people most of them seem not to like the cuts and the winzone, so we'll go back to the classic version again. but feel free to download the 2nd map version:

Code: Select all

MAP_FILE Titanoboa/regular/4rooms-2.5.aamap.xml(http://www.trongame.de/resource/maps/Titanoboa/regular/4rooms-2.5.aamap.xml)
this is the old one:

Code: Select all

MAP_FILE Word/regular/4rooms-1.aamap.xml(http://www.trongame.de/resource/maps/Word/regular/4rooms-1.aamap.xml)
edit: there's something wrong with hidden logins with global ids. if you don't like your global id to be shown to everyone you better don't login on our server until it's fixed.

Yeah the winzone put the focus on the shortcuts. You should just remove the winzone, not the cracks.
