Discussions bout movie packs
i think putting them in different places makes lots-o-sense..
u could throw all those low-poly cycles that are floating around these threads in there too.
i plan on releasing mods someday, but i wanna pick apart the moviepak & see if i can tease more fps out of it first, etc..
prolly work on some other vehicles first too, & then.. it'd be hard to find my bikes untill i release them in a mod..
guess i'm pretty dumb to release them in a thread topic that doesnt say "hey check out my new bikes!"
oh well

is there a trick to making cool screenshots in this game? is there any way to fly around unrestricted in the grid/world space ?

I think the whole moviepack/models/sounds stuff needs to be rewritten from the ground up as a separate module instead of being scattered all over the place. I think we need to get rid of the disinction between the default models, sounds, and textures and the moviepacks. The defaults should just be another pack that comes preinstalled. This would simplify the code some. I also think we should split the movie pack up. I personally would like to be able to choose the models, sounds, and textures separately.
Sounds and textures would be easy. You just create new subdirectories under the sound/ and texture/ directories and pick the sub directories you want to use. All sounds and textures would come from the chosen directories.
The models would be a little more complicated since you would need to handle different cases. You have the default three piece .mod files. You have the current moviepack single piece .ase file. And you have the future three piece moviepack files and maybe other file format... We might need a cfg file to set some information about the model that the program can use or we would just do an if exists on different file names to figure out what kind of model we are dealing with.
The models would also introduce more complexity into the texture selection. The three piece model would let you select the body and wheel textures. The one piece would let you select one texture. Maybe we only let the user choose textures for the default model and use the standard bike.png file that would be with the moviepack .ase models. Maybe we put the textures in the same directory as the model and list all the ones in the model directory to choose from (might need to prefix body and wheel textures to filter them or just let the users make sure they pick the right one).
Anyways, just some thoughts as I avoid doing work.
