Shut off servers?

Post by Tank Program »

I'm tempted to stop hosting tron servers because I'm sort of starting to miss using my bandwith for me instead of others. Anyone really have any complaints?

Complaints? No. I don't play on your servers often. But whenever I do, it's fun there. I think they're an important part of the community, I think. I'd ask you to leave at least one online.

Tank

Your servers where an important part of the community, and will be missed by many.

Thanks for providing them in the first place.

Hey tank, I would like to take over Speed Blast (especially since I might have a dedicated server available soon), could you please send me the configuration file(s)?

Would you mind putting your config into the examples directory so that people can use it to set up clones?

None of the configs are for 0.2.7.1+...

But if I shut them off I'll post the configs for the ones shut off.

I notice Tiger's Classic is quite populated on a fairly consistent basis. Speed Blast somewhat less so, but still regularly used. Armagoshdarn Clone rarely, but it's nice to have it there. All three could be described as niche favorites, near and dear to a certain subset of players. I'm sure there are a lot of Europeans, especially, who would be disappointed in them being shut down.

It's your prerogative, of course.

(That would leave me with about 3-5 servers that aren't biased out of my master server list, heh. :( )

This is truely sad to see.
It´s a pitty you don´t upgrade classic play.
0.2.6.0. settings make it hard to play for me there.

I also think it's too bad armagoshdarn clone had to go. There's a distinct lack of servers like that anymore.

Vertigo, in what way does 2.6 make it hard for you to play? If you're talking about its resistance to adjusts and 180 grinds, I wager with some confidence that even if Tank were to ever upgrade, he'd make it so those things were still impossible. If you're not, nevermind.

No no I love the tigers classic settings with rubber 4. I started playing there and i wished there would be more servers with this low rubber. I hate the endless wallgrids. Seems everybody is afraid of a good fight on the grid and off the rim.
But since I got 2.8. i can´t drive there properly. When I do a fast 180 like when you start and head towards the middle I make a fast turn and it simply smashes me into my own wall when I grind back again. That wasn´t when i used 2.6. or 2.7. Hope I expressed that kind of understandable. :P

I'm afraid I don't understand completely. Are you talking about the bounce bug? Does a 0.2.8 client provoke it more often? If it's not that, a short and crips clientside redording may be a good idea. 0.2.8 should work well with older servers, but of course, I playtest it only using my own lame techniques :)

I agree with Vertigo.
When I started playing AA, I used 0.2.7 and everything on Classic Play was fine. Then I changed to 0.2.8 and now there is more lag, sliding and this 180-explosion thing Verti mentioned.
