Its the same old problem, each new version of armagetron plays completely different from the previous
originally classic II was running 0.2.6.0
there was a change in game play when sylv upgraded to 0.2.7.0 but it wasnt so bad
but now hes upgraded to 0.2.7.1 the game is totally screwed
After posting this I managed to speak with sylv and he's gonna restore 0.2.7.0 so our favorite game will be back soon

Not just the source code, but it also comes with the binaries for windows. No compiling necessary.Tank Program wrote:Right up until someone exploits the security flaws with the publicly available source, and crashes it...iceman wrote:he's gonna restore 0.2.7.0 so our favorite game will be back soon

maybe you dont see the effect I do
I often drive through a wall about 8 grid squares then turn left or right for another 12 or so grid squares and then the server snaps me back to the other side of the wall or I drive up to a wall and before I can turn to grind I explode
The server ignores about 20% of my client moves and just throws the bike where ever it chooses
The truth is a lie on 0.2.7.1

I do see this effect. With 0.2.7.0 or earlier on the server, you would be doomed at exactly this point. The old server would try to follow your command to the point and turn after the wall, but you'll never get there alive. With 0.2.7.1 on the client, you would not have tunneled in the first place ( I'll have a look at the freezers you report in another thread on my lowest end computer )iceman wrote:maybe you dont see the effect I do

I never saw one of those, but that does not mean much. I never saw wall bends or rips or bounces or ghosting until two months ago. I'm probably not driving "Iceman-Style" here We'll need a way to log replays of matches for the really tricky debug cases. Any chance of a low-res video of these effects?or I drive up to a wall and before I can turn to grind I explode
