000webhost might have an automatic installer script named: Fantastico

However, I tried looking into it, it seems that 000webhost only has phpBB 2 available for autoinstall. (bummer)

Seems if you want phpBB 3, you'll have to do the setup manually (it's actually still fairly automatic, just a lot of uploads and some configuring).

https://www.phpbb.com/community/docs/INSTALL.html <-- installation walkthrough by phpBB.

If you have any specific questions, let us know.

Tips:
- usually people forget to make one of their directories writable, so pay attention to what has to be writable
- you should have your database setup and ready to go BEFORE you begin trying to install phpBB (doing this before uploading is what I do)
- all you need is to have an empty database, username and password for it, and to know where the database server is (it is either "localhost" or some other location shown within your 000webhost control panel)
- once you have the database ready, the files uploaded, and the directories' permissions set appropriately (writable), then you can start with the installation process.
- MAKE SURE to follow post-installation procedure (delete the install directory and any other files that need to be removed - the walkthrough will tell you)

Good luck.

To be somewhat more helpful, since I have done exactly this on 000webhost.

1. Download the version of phpbb3 that you want to install. There are choices to be made here.

2. Use the built-in file manager to upload phpbb3 to 000webhost, or use your own ftp program.

3. In your webbrowser, go to http://www.yourphpbb3install/install.php

okay so i'm following a tutorial on youtube on how to install phpbb3 to your website and it tells me to use filezilla.. I following the steps on to the part where I download phpbb3 of the browser and copy n paste the files into the public_html folder .. after this in the tutorial it tells your to type your domain into the url but do /install which I done but I got 2 errors; which include:

Warning: Unexpected character in input: '\' (ASCII=92) state=1 in /home/a1806843/public_html/install/index.php on line 110

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/a1806843/public_html/install/index.php on line 110

Could you maybe help me with this?
