Pokemon, please help
Pokemon, please help
In a few months, myself and a few friends are going to have a fierce Pokemon competition. Here are the rules:
Game - Pokemon Red or Blue (original)
Start from the beginning, you have 7 days to create the ultimate Pokemon team
At the end of the week, you fight your team against others in a knock-out competition
£10 in, winner takes all (so far there is 4 of us, could be more)
You are allowed to trade Pokemon across and back in order to evolve them (but obviously no new previously trained Pokemon from the other game can be moved across)
No Missingo cheats!
I am no Pokemaster... When I played the original, I had weird Pokemon like Lickitung, Tangela, Mr Mime etc. I need to build the ultimate Pokemon team, and need some serious suggestions. I want intricate statistics to give myself the biggest advantage I can
What suggestions do people have? Thanks!

Re: Pokemon, please help
just get 6 mew... dont need missingno cheat for it
Re: Pokemon, please help
Long trainer glitch allowed? Not missingno, but gives you Mew.
Also, can it be any pokemon? I know competitively there are multiple tiers, if it's any you may want to invest in the Uber pokemon (mew base 100 in all stats/mewtwo strong in both physical and special with decent hp).
Also, avoid Gengar ONLY if you plan on using ghost moves, it's worthless in that department since they're physical attacks in Gen 1. Great special attacker and very fast though, if you want to use a different set avoiding ghost moves, with different type coverage.
Chansey is a great special wall with extremely high HP (if you play against a Mewtwo, for example, who uses special moves, but will still do hefty chunks), but brittle against any physical attack.
Rhydon is a great physical attacker and physical wall, but it's porous against high special stat pokes.
Alakazam is nice speed.
Snorlax is a really good physical attacker. Not great defensive wise but really good hp.
Exeggutor/Zapdos are good special attackers with decent physical defense and HP.
Slowbro is a good physical wall with decent special if you want him.
Dragonite is a beast of a physical attacker.
Ugh, that's more than I probably normally say. The competitive game is fun to me, and if you want really competitive, check out this. Probably one of the best things you should check if you want to be extremely competitive.
I don't know, my team would consist something of like Mewtwo/Mew/(Gengar/Alakazam)/Slowbro/Snorlax/Dragonite at first glances.
Edit: Unless of course you want to do the Mew glitch and obtain six of those. Then you can just make each set different.

If you really be competetive read this.
Re: Pokemon, please help
Yeah, that works too. Forgot that speed is proportional to crit rate in RBY.ElmosWorld wrote:If you really be competetive read this.

Re: Pokemon, please help
Amazing! Thank you, I will get reading up on this later tonight
I like the look of Chansey (always been my favourite Pokemon), and Exeggutor is also pretty cool
Has anyone a link to the Mew glitch? I wasn't aware you could get Mew without one of those Game Cheat things?
More suggestions welcome, as well as ideas for moves
Bear in mind I have only a week to train them up, so a Dragonite which is a very slow level upper may not be the best strategy

You guys crazy? He only has one week, theres no way he can get that far in the game AND level up. You should definitely buy that magikarp.
There's a difference between knowing your shit, and knowing you're shit. Grammar does matter.
Re: Pokemon, please help
Is there a limit on the amount of hours you can play in the week span? #sleeplessnights
But yeah, Dragonite would be unachievable. Charizard is great though.

Re: Pokemon, please help
I'd definitely go for Alakazam, Jolteon and Starmie.
Alakazam and Jolteon should be easy-peasy to get, and you can catch Staryu after the 7th gym if I'm not mistaken.
they all have pretty high speed and special
