Not to be misinterpreted as an endorsement of "open/loose/DF," of course.

Yeah, that's one of the objections I had to this new cockpit (the other being how its implemented/customized; requires too much geekiness), and I think I recall others voicing the same concern. It only reinforces the misconception that rubber is some kind of shield or health that your cycle has, whatever the rubber value.
