[TWG2] Game Over, Uninfected Win!

Post by Z-Man »

Ooookay, here are the rules. Again, you're all programs inside a computer, and there is a malicious virus/worm infection going around. Playing happens in phases, "active" (day) and "inactive" (night).

During the day:
You vote for a player you want to have removed from the game. Votes need to be put in bold. Give a reason for your vote or don't, it's your choice.
At the end of the day, I'll count the votes, and the program with the most votes will be gruesomely terminated. If there are several programs with the same number of maximal votes, they will enter a vote-off; if there is an unresolvable tie (meaning that nobody is voting for anyone outside the programs with maximal votes on them), one will be picked randomly.
The lengths of day and vote-off periods is undefined and the end will not be announced at the beginning; expect days to last for about 24 hours, vote-offs for about 12 hours. That is to dissuade you from last minute vote changes that nobody else can react to in time.

This time around, due to some odd coincidence, there are TWO variants of the worm infecting the system; each worm team will consist of two programs initially. An infected program will know who the other of its own kind is, but not who is infected with the other mutation. At "night", the worm teams select a program to terminate ("eat"). One team gets the even nights to make the kill, the other team gets the odd nights. If one team is eliminated, the other gets all nightly kills. They cannot eat teammates, members of the other worm team, however, are fair game.

Again, there are two non-infected programs with special abilities:
The Firewall can protect one other program per night (not itself this time) against worm kills.
The Virus Scanner can scan one other program per night for infection. It can distinguish the members from the two worm teams, but someone forgot to feed it the Firewall signature, so the Firewall will be seen as a regular uninfected program.

Victory conditions:
The uninfected win if all infected programs are eliminated.
Each worm team wins if it makes up at least half the total population.
(Yes, if all uninfected programs are eliminated and both worm teams have equal strength, they both win.)

Roles will not be revealed on termination.
Firewall saves will be made public. Think about what that does NOT mean :)

The rules have been chosen to guarantee a nice minimum length (four days, three nights), equal chances between the two worm teams (the first kill right isn't that valuable, say the simulations) and, of course, odds that are against the uninfected if everyone just does random stuff. You'll need to be a bit smarter than a monkey :)

I thought about adding more infected programs and more Specials (as was also requested), but that makes the minimum game shorter and random things happening at the start can shift the balance a lot (Scanner finds Firewall -> uninfected win, Firewall lynched, Scanner eaten -> worms win). So I just nerfed the Specials a bit.

As usual:
- eliminated programs should STFU in general, except for a role playing parting note which is encouraged.
- non-players should also STFU, watch and enjoy, but don't influence the game.
- keep it fun, avoid personal attacks.
- make votes in bold, edit the bold out of votes you retracted.
- questions about game mechanics can be asked here (preferred before the game started) or in PM (preferred after the game started, so your questions about what X can do are not interpreted as "I am X!!!!" by the other players), answers will be given here.
- inactive players (roughly two game days without posting here) may be removed or replaced.
- don't post during the "night".
- night actions can be ordered via PM here or on IRC.
- the official IRC channel is #armatwgetron on Freenode; it is protected, the key will be given out to you in your role PM.

Players:
1. Luke-Jr (removed day 3, even worm)
2. Fonkay (Virus Scanner)
3. Lucifer (removed day 3)
4. DDMJ (eaten night 1, Firewall)
5. wrtlprnft (lynched day 1, odd worm)
6. Tank Program (lynched day 3)
7. ed (eaten night 2)
8. pavelo (eaten night 3, even worm)
9. MaZuffeR (lynched day 2)
10. noob7 (lynched day 4, odd worm)
11. ender

Heh, advance warning: Voting for luke-jr in the first cycle almost guarantees you're not a worm. Worms would want to keep him alive as long as possible...
