If you think it's too early, start thinking for real.

Happy fireworking, and remember to ignore all safety precautions. It's important that the one or other kid loses an eye to a stray rocket or a hand to an oversized explosive, otherwise the demons and evil spirits we want to chase away with the stuff won't believe it's frigging dangerous.

And don't do everything z-man tells you to do :)

According to these forums, it's not 2008 yet.

Oh, it is, if you set an eastish time zone in your profile.

Great advice, z-man, if I resolved the contradictions correctly; I just lost both my eyes, a few fingers and some toenails. Nah, of course not. :)

Ok, *now* it's 2008. :)

First moon of the new year will be rising in another hour. It's waxing crescent right now, but hopefully there'll still be enough of it to see good details in my son's telescope. I promised to wake them up if I got a good view of it. Next moon in viewable hours isn't until the end of January, and I'd like him to look at it before then if possible, and tonight's the only night that'll be possible.

As far as they're concerned it's more likely west than east. How they feel about it depends on their intelligence.
