"Music printed on the butt of one of the tortured souls in the 15th Century Hieronymus Bosch painting "The Garden of Earthly Delights" , Played on (What else?) Lute, Harp, and Hurdy-Gurdy by James Spalink. The melody is based on the transcription by Amelia Hamrick. The intro and outro employ the "Devil's Interval", and the last couple of measures are conjecture on my part. You could say that I just "pulled them out of my"-well, you know....."

Wow, what an unexpected thing to learn today!

One day I plan to build a Hurdy-Gurdy, though it will have a quite a few sympathetic strings, like a sitar.

Add a sustainer and make it electric, then play the butt song on it and add drums/percussion? :P

A short while ago I thought a lot about saving money for a sitar pedal and watched lots of video reviews, but I feel like first I should really learn to play better, then get a real tube amp next. But from what i can tell, the Ravish Sitar pedal would actually fit my sustainer guitar (here's a video someone made with a Schecter guitar).

Also, I recently discovered Volker Kriegel, a German filmmaker/cartoonist/guitarist (who played with the likes of Alexis Korner, the guy who brought the Rolling Stones together) and died in 2002. I'm not sure how to recommend him: Most of it is not really my taste, but there are some bits I really like, for example this one. The best comparison I can think of is Frank Zappa (again someone whose virtuosity and fast playing and changes of tempo/range of sound overexert my ears most of the time, which is not to say that he's bad).

You can get better while trying out your new gear. Buying guitar pedals is half the fun of playing!

True, but I'm gonna need money first. I work as a waiter on a tourist ship in our city for the next two months, that's might be the start of a pedal collection. :P

Anyway, this is Thurston Moore explaining some of his guitar work/where his inspiration stems from:

Also, this is the Glenn Branca song mentioned in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMwODttfnl8

Also, what the ****!? :o

(The sections of the video where he actually uses the guitar in unusual ways to create sounds are the most interesting ones, but I liked this particular instrumental very much.)

Scary Pockets! Found them a couple weeks ago and went through their entire library in no time.

Natasha Bedingfield's Unwritten: https://youtu.be/dCGsVP7sFxs
Billy Joel's Just the Way You Are: https://youtu.be/qf4ZjnDGtnE (that bass solo!)
Gnarls Barkley's Crazy: https://youtu.be/JZQzAWzSsn4

They make funk covers of contemporary pop songs & evergreens, and they invite all kinds of good musicians.

I really like HBO's Watchmen and the last episode featured a song by the Zambian band WITCH ("We Intend To Cause Havoc"). Here's another one I really enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bAwKD9SWFs

While I was listening to WITCH, Spotify recommended the band Natural Child to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjBeW8uYpWg
