Re: Armagetron ON Steam (2019) with steam direct
I'd have no problem paying the 100$ to get a steam direct spot. There are potential benefits. Auto-Updates of the client being my favourite. However, with the hopes that it might stand out from the 1000's of new games released monthly and maybe get some new players interested in joining us on the g...

Re: Possible bounty for proper SDL2 port
Don't care about iOS/android (GLES on the other hand, yeah), sailfish on jolla is proper glibc, not bionic bs, so should compile nicely. Am willing to offer 100$ bounty (I know not much, but a start I guess) for GLES port? Check this out (glshim doing the GL->GLES automatically): http://talk.maemo.o...

Possible bounty for proper SDL2 port
I am a bit on the fence, my attention recently went into other games, but coming back to arma every once in a while, it still is addicting. So lets hear your opinions guys. With almost noone playing, proper SDL2 port would allow Jolla and android users to join the game. Sure they will be noobs and w...

CTWF - needs more 1v2 balanced maps
There are so many maps that just make 1v2 play impossible with wild/nomercy, not sure if existing ones are salvageable (adding some mini labirynths in the middle like some maps already have), or extending the length, but seeing how the game is now almost dead (until someone finally makes proper SDL2...

Re: Why Armagetron doesn't attract new players (much)
You want influx of new players? Gather the 1-2k of dollars needed for someone to port it to android (with glshim it already was ported to maemo/n900, not good enough processor though even OC at 1.2 ghz, so arm and gl is not that big of a deal). You will get thousands of new players on shitty connect...

Re: How pickup kills tron
Ok, now I read it all, still seems awkward people seem more concerned about leaving early bans that are for 1 day (1h means 2 games in the meantime, what are we banning from again? if from playing pickup fort 1h is more than enough, make it 2 so it is painful as 4 games will go without those guys, t...

Re: How pickup kills tron
Sorry, didn't read all replies, but had to post it. While pickup today got another hiccup and some 8-10 players were waiting for the last few to show up for the game I had some half hour of great games (yeah, sure, 3v2(4) is not fun, sucks so bad, worse than waiting for the last 2 guys lol), teachin...

Re: How pickup kills tron
waiting for the ping when 12 pros gathered round. Flaw. 3/4th of the people that play pickup are not pro. Therefore your statement and argument is immediately invalid. Should have added sarcasm tags, forgive me. But being passive pro (or 'pro') hurts the game nonetheless. Be in that server you wann...

How pickup kills tron
This will be mixed, as have two grievances, but both are about pickup: Many topics here how to make the game more popular, how to introduce more ppl to it, we need more players yadda yadda yadda, yet, we not only introduce login but also IRC requirement. This in itself is not that bad, except that m...

Kickstarter/Indiegogo campaign idea
Last update to tron was ages ago. Win8 support is shaky. How about we start a funding campaign to fund coding effort to finish/fix the game? For however much we can gather we could hire developers that would work on bringing minimap/login support to all platforms, lowering latency etc. I am willing ...

Reducing lag
Sorry, I am sure this must've been discussed thousands of times, but circumstantial evidence leads me to believe server code is not optimised. Repeatedly today noticed mega lags/slides when tst games were ending. And also when pickup guys went onto their game later on slides seemed to disappear. Fre...

Re: Win attacks - 'fort' type server
[...] Your argument is that win att is not really a fort mode, but what happens if you center at a 2vs2? [...] Same when someone centers on 7v7? You seal it or lose it (grind/bottle whichever you prefer). Or both sides play until there is strategic advantage of 2v1. Just like it plays out with 7v6 ...
