Re: Teachers only have to know stuff
I'd love to go all intellectual here and continue a debate that seems to have veered slightly onto wages and standard curricular assessments, but I think the entirety of the problem lies not with the way teachers teach, or the way they are assessed, or even the way they are taught to teach, but with...

Re: Teachers only have to know stuff
It's not just teachers that are the problem, it's the source of education too. Everyone goes on about (for example) the meanings and implications of colours in written text, and yet there are very few authors who use this kind of aural illustration to document mood and genre. Looking at Shakespeare,...

Re: [PHP] Converting Armagetron Colors to HTML Colors
Looking at that makes me confused again as to the operation of the counter... surely it should be looking for the zone first being conquered rather than the round starting? Or have I got this completely wrong?

Re: [PHP] Converting Armagetron Colors to HTML Colors
Just to drop my own tuppence in here, I am extremely behind you all in "coding skill" if you like, but I can see how the comments are a little messy to read. Loverboy, might I suggest that instead of wrapping up explanations where it is difficult to read them, you simply add a text file wi...

Did you? In game or something? Sorry. If I didn't see that, I retract my statements. Overall, it was quite a fun event.

Re: Spawn placement, zone placement
No real option then? not even using the same kind of thing as used to make random DZ's?

Spawn placement, zone placement
Is there any way to completely randomise these? It would save four or five copies of the same map with different spawn positions

Re: Sumo Bar Qualifier Top 25 announced!
I'm not going to be arsey, since I doubt I would have made it into the top 25, but I wish cody had let me know that he had put me onto the Irish server. I got in with four rounds to go, and by the time I got back to Z-Mans the match hadn't even started. Anyway, next qualifier I should have decent br...

Looked at the servers... - Cody, any chance I can play on the euro server? my ping on Z-Man's server is over 350, whereas the Irish one sits comfortably at around 150-160

Cody, what server is this going to be hosted on? I only have my dongle this weekend so I need to see what lag is going to be like, and if I need to find a nice wifi hotspot or not

Re: Unix (?) Dyndir
Used to specify a variable folder/file path? I really don't know, I was hoping someone here would. I came up stumped on google and scrub, and there's nothing on any of the geeky sites I sometimes trawl. It was just a fleeting glance, I saw it somewhere and thought it could be useful for things like ...

Unix (?) Dyndir
I came across a command the other day that appears to cohere with the unix based languages, I'm guessing that it specifies a directory that is variable, but how would I go about using it?
Also, am I right in assuming that it is a unix command?

Re: Not connecting to Master Server, Admin
OK I have the stuff that I did on my mothers router. Simply put, I used a "custom built" piece of firmware, but I'll leave that decision up to you. Flashing the router back to stock without an option in the GUI is annoying at best. The cleanest way I have found is to flash a copy of dd-wrt...

Re: Not connecting to Master Server, Admin
I seem to recall reading something about many distributors firmwares being unreliable on those, and a model up (or down?) from your router. I'll go see if I can find the thingy that lets you flash it back to stock
