Re: The worst things that have ever been written
By claiming that there are hundreds of contradictions in the bible, you are in fact offering your own interpretation of various points in the bible as contradictory in nature. Of course, others can (and do) interpret such points in a different manner, which, when added together, aren't contradictory...

Re: The worst things that have ever been written
It's been touched on, but always alongside a list of other reasons of why we hate Christianity. I think the history is quite phenomenal, and biblical influence has one or two of its many fingers is almost every pie, and probably justifies a whole post of its own And yeah Gene, emphasis on biblical i...

Re: The worst things that have ever been written
Even by using such a logical approach you can deconstruct your own equation - In being open to God and not becoming aware of God, you are can therefore conclude that God does not exist. By making such a conclusion, you are not open to God, but in fact the opposite. Such logic therefore begs the ques...

Re: The worst things that have ever been written
Atheists, broadly speaking, don't believe in the existence of God or some higher being (correct me if I'm wrong...) So if God came to Earth as an atheist, he would no longer believe in his existence as God, but would believe himself to an ordinary human being. If this were to happen, his name would ...

Re: Fortress & Sumo United (FSU)
The only point I'd like to add to this discussion is that whilst it's great to talk about these things, most ideas here require a fair investment of time by one or two people into setting up such a system. Are there people here who are prepared to commit to such a task? I think once we've got a gene...

Re: The worst things that have ever been written
Yeah, and that's exactly what I'm trying to do - keep things from degenerating into something nasty. It is 'off topic' (though I don't know why we're so obsessed with keeping things 'on topic' all the time), but your comment says "I got off topic a wee bit", not 'this thread has gotten off topic a w...

Re: The worst things that have ever been written
Asides from being extremely hilarious, I don't think it's particularly wise to make posts like that... As I said previously, these issues are very personal to people, and although internet culture isn't the kindest place a lot of the time, we manage to maintain a reasonable level respect on these fo...

Re: Ladle streaming - are ppls interested in this?
Providing my router can connect to the internet, I could help with the commentating though I've never done it before. I will definitely not be participating in the ladle itself, and will be available for games streamed providing something doesn't come up for that night

Re: The worst things that have ever been written
Yeah, but as someone who is also familiar with 'both sides', I have absolutely no idea what it is like to be part of a Catholic Church in Germany and the culture there, nor do I know what it's like to be a member of an Orthodox Church in Greece, or a Pentecostal Church in America. And that (denomina...

Re: Cycling
Interesting video on Alleycat Races, worth a watch (a little repetitive after a while, but watching some of the lines they take is pretty exhilarating for a little while at least) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0npCFw9TEnA If things work out, I might make it to the Monstertrack in New York this Marc...

Re: The worst things that have ever been written
First two minutes are Zizek on love - seems relevant, may be of interest to some http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=U0jxclqEJD8 Edit: To add my own input to the discussion - I think fixed categories of Christian/Non-Christian are too broad for serious consideration, which is why ...

Re: The worst things that have ever been written
As far as I am concerned, all religious texts are works of fiction claiming not only to be fact but also to be the word of a superior being (or superior beings) When interpreting information (be it text, dialogue, whatever) the power lies not in the text itself, or what it's claiming, but in the hu...
