Lucifer's shameless self-promotion thread
I wrote a new book, sorta. It's an ebook only, and it's pretty short, as reflected by the price. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CLL25G7F/ref=sr_1_1?qid=1699585566&sr=8-1 I got kind of tired of mysteries always being murder mysteries and wanted something a bit lighter, so here it is, a detective tha...

Re: What happened to CT?
You guys got me thinking about bringing back Breakfast in Hell. Dunno if I have time to admin a server right now, though. You do that and I'm likely to play more often again.... Well, it's running now. I seem to have fixed the first problem I had, where it turned itself off. It's now been running f...

Re: My new son :)
Just thought a few of you may want to be reminded of how old we all are... I posted this thread years ago to announce the birth of my youngest son. Here he is on his 18th birthday earlier this year... Congrats to him. But seriously? Are we really that old now? My youngest turned 20 this year. :/ Ma...

Re: NixOS: The last word in Armagetron hosting
The --input file used as an alternative to stdin. The NixOS module runs it as a systemd service and uses --daemon --input /var/lib/armagetronad/${server}/input. It seems like this just has to be an empty file instead of a fifo or the server will just block on reading it, which makes sense. I don't ...

We're still around! The greater community is more active over on the discord - much to my chagrin and that of others, but it serves a purpose. Come see us: https://discord.gg/dcpaauj I didn't see a post about it, but there's now a bridge connecting discord to irc, so afaik, all chat platforms are c...

Re: Still alive
There's something to be said for being a regular at the hospital. Because of all the times I sat with my daughter for mental stuff, when I went to the ER for my gall bladder, they already knew me. So when they saw that I was calm and relaxed, while describing inconceivable pain, they rushed me in to...

Going to have to be FreeCiv, since that's mostly the only game I play these days.

I'm only using breezy for my private stuff. I've gotten the basics of git, and I just need to get around to making a gitlab account.

Re: On Perceived Strength of Defense
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Sorry about only recently stumbling onto this thread. Didn't mean to wake the dead. Also, Nothing discussed here is new. Not saying it's not worth discussing, just saying there's nothing really new here. We already knew stronger sweepers make a better defen...

A fat lot of good that would do, what with you yourself being more offline than online :D That's why I need to setup Quassel. I finally have a laptop that sleeps properly, but it takes me offline when it does. I'll get it. You don't rebuild a semi-complex home IT infrastructure overnight, nor out o...

Re: I'm vaccinated!
Hrm. My bout with covid was quick and painless. It was a couple of days' worth of coughing, some runny nose, and some fever, but otherwise, not much. I'd only gotten the J&J vaccine, which isn't as effective as the mrna-based vaccines. I guess I'm glad I still have my immune system. ;) That or ...

Burn Notice, again. Got divorced, again, and I find Burn Notice somewhat healing, especially since Michael Westen keeps saying things like "One problem at a time!"
