Re: Player Police 2.5: Policies and procedures

I'm on the fence on the right number of official servers, but I don't want there to be so many that players can't see that there are other servers. But besides that, the plan for 0.4 is to show them first and make a clear distinction between them so that unwitting new players don't wander out into ...

Re: Something to think about.

This should (almost) be what you need: http://resource.armagetronad.net/resource/vov/games/fort/fortress2014_v2.cfg It's basically a ladle config without the whole tournament access level fluff. The things I'd change for a public fort server would be: team_max_imbalance 1 # evenly sized teams auto_t...

Re: Errors compiling 0.4 on OpenBSD

Maybe the compiler doesn't eat the "std::unique_ptr< type > variable" declaration with the spaces there; could be confusing it with the < and > operators. Before the last code change it used std::auto_ptr there which doesn't seem to have </> operators at all.

Re: Post your smartcam settings here

The wiki has a page for camera settings here. Since there's no special page for smartcam in any way, we could just add the smartcam's commands and your settings for them there. I might just do that later.

Re: Clans (or whatever they're called) Help

Nah, it's not built in. If they got a website, I don't know it (they got no clan server with an URL - the typical way of finding out for me). So apart from "try asking them", I got nothing, sorry :/

Re: The Potato

Alternate map for sumo/chaossumo with different spawns, suited for team play (2-4 teams with 2 or 3 players each): MAP_FILE vov/sumo/CircleOfDoom-1.0.aamap.xml MAP_FILE vov/sumo/CircleOfDoom_scriptzones-1.0.aamap.xml # no deathzones in the map file MAP_FILE vov/arena/CircleOfDoom-1.0.aamap.xml # no ...

Re: Dedicated server on raspberry pi

It's not a pi though :D (although I did consider replacing it with a pi). As far as I'm aware pis run something pretty similar to Debian though. There's a tutorial for that here: http://wiki.armagetronad.org/index.php?title=Linux_Development I'm not sure on how up-to-date that page is considering th...

Re: The Potato

I remember searching for something that does exactly that a long time ago. Nice find (and bookmarked ;))! I don't really feel like touching the script now though - wrote it a year ago and just commented and uploaded it because someone asked for it. Also now that I think of it, here's the actual phys...

Re: The Potato

The chaos sumo script. Used with the alternate map: MAP_FILE vov/sumo/RingOfFire_scriptzones-1.0.aamap.xml The deathzone ring is created by the script. You can edit its parameters in the script if you want to use a different map. Other than that, edit $serveraddress at the top to your server's addre...

Re: [TT] Tron Times: Community Outreach

I agree with Lucifer on having tourneys for more stuff. Maybe put diferent events on different days of the month like Ladle or CTF Brawl did it? About the differing game modes, my approach to that was a server with game modes changing after every match. It didn't work and people nearly always left i...

Re: Ladle 108

We had 2 nice rounds of fort today (and some megafort afterparty of course)! All the matches were pretty close (100 - 70+) and full of action. We played 6v6s with plenty of subs arriving later on, and then afterwards did a second round with new teams as some were leaving. The randomizer worked perfe...

If you want to voicechat at the ladle with your team, you can also try out the Discord channel. I can easily set up team channels and leaders and stuff for it. Link to join (works in a browser too): https://discord.gg/qr3z3dE

Re: Ladle 108

We could plan for team sizes based on player number in advance, so there won't be any quarrel about them right at the event. Example rule text (numbers made up, should probably be adjusted a bit to account for late players): Players are counted at HH:MM GMT. Teams will be: 12 Players: 2 teams of 6 1...
