Re: Should We Rebuild the Wiki?

I would like to update you guys, and potentially ask Z-Man (or possibly Tank) for one more thing. The wiki is set up and working, and you can get to it at the following URL. http://wiki.lightron.org I have also set up my haproxy to allow "wiki.armagetronad.org" as well. If either Z-Man or Tank would...

Re: Should We Rebuild the Wiki?

Not that anyone was complaining, but your passwords on the arma wiki are hashed with sha512. This means that I would have to (very, very slowly .. potentially many years) brute force your password. It cannot simply be read. The benefit is that we will retain all usernames, nobody can "steal" each ot...

Re: Lightron + Armagetron Repository: Upgrades & Changes

With an update to the network, some of my servers are going to be making their way back and becoming more playable. Some of these include the snake survival and zombie invasion servers. Along with this, I have fixed the script to allow you to preview the highscores, and where you rank in the snake s...

Re: Should We Rebuild the Wiki?

I'd be 100% OK with you just taking over the Wiki. I could give you a database dump and the media files no problem. That is, if anyone objects to their username/password/email getting transferred, I could scrub the user database and we'd be left with the content. At least, I assume that's how it wo...

Re: Should We Rebuild the Wiki?

As a note, anyone who would like to use the wiki and make changes can do so by making an account at the following URL. I will keep this wiki up as long as it's useful to people.

Re: Lightron + Armagetron Repository: Upgrades & Changes

Thanks for keeping up Lightron.org, I think it's probably the most valuable resource in ArmagetronAd right now! :) I'd love to see this game thrive again. I'm not ready to give up on it. I've had a busy life recently having gotten married, a house, all the problems that come with getting a house an...

Re: Should We Rebuild the Wiki?

This is me begging for you to make this happen. With the very little spare time that I have, I have tried to do this on a much smaller scale, because it is what we need. I am now pursuing the IT certs that I need to get a job in IT. Back in the day, I was a CNE in versions 3 and 4 of Novell Netware...

Should We Rebuild the Wiki?

With all of the problems the wiki is having, I have set up a quick alternative using MediaWiki. Do you guys think it would be a good idea to start rebuilding? You can literally copy and paste the pages over, and we would need to rebuild the templates as well. I have tested with one of my pages to se...

Lightron + Armagetron Repository: Upgrades & Changes

There have been some recent updates to Lightron that also affect the Armagetron Repository (in a good way). Bandwidth There has been a change of ISP, and an upgrade to bandwidth. Lightron is now hosting on a 500mbps / 50mpbs connection, allowing for much faster downloading of larger files, and handl...

This has been brought up quite a few times, but always seems to be shot down. Maybe it'll be different this time, but here's a search of past ones.

Re: A public letter to Z-man.

Well, let's talk but this. It has been discussed here before. Micro transactions that are "power ups" are very profitable, but ruin the game, so those are out. But, how about "virtual hats". How about offering a marketplace for custom moviepacks, custom cycles that others can see, and whatever else...

Re: Most Stable version of armagetronad to compile?

I always suggest sty+CT, but I have both that and sty+CT+ap. Regular 0.2.8 missed out on things like styball and CTF. AP mostly has racing features added to it. My sty ct servers run with no problems 24/7 (sort of ... Dedicated idle and all) Also, I have saved a bit of issues by compiling with gcc5.

Re: FoosterNET Hosting (Free during beta testing!)

Just as a random bit of info. I also run my servers in containers, and there's a fun thing you can do as far as hosting goes. Being that the game server only uses UDP, you can forward the same port for TCP connections to 22 (or whatever your SSH server runs on), making each person use a single port ...
