that's how I found out about armagetron. it was from mandrake 8 I think, which included something like version 1.2x or so of armagetron. I don't remember the version number except it was very old. I went for an upgrade because I liked the game, and found out it could do net gaming! So what? Does man...

cycle ping rubber? gee, I remember putting that all the way to zero to punish the australians! :)

but seriously, I have to start from scratch to figure out the best rubber settings etc. I'm busy for a couple of days, but when I get a chance I'll make some adjustments.

I agree!

Is it *really* unrippable? Even for the macro freaks? (and I use the term freaks with kindness and love.)

Thanks z-man. I'll take those things into consideration. It wasn't bounce I guess. It didn't pop me over my trail like bounce would. But when I went to get a tight grind, it sort of pushed me out in a way I didn't expect. Hopefully those settings will straighten that out. I'm not sure if I specified...

heh, well, I created the ~./armagetronad/var dir and it seems happy to read my cfg's from there. Are you sure you didn't intend this? I thought it was in the docs somewhere (like way back, when I first got 2.6 running, or maybe even 2.5.x)? Anyway, I'm running Armagoshdarnish in 2.7.1 now. I've noti...

ok, that's different from 2.6 then. It read from ~./armagetron/var/ for the autoexec and everytime cfg's, and it used the --vardir for storing the matches, ladder etc.

I've got some other ideas I'll pursue.

thanks nemo. I've install the dedicated rpm. It doesn't seem to have put autoexec.cfg or everytime.cfg anywhere. Nor do I have .armagetronad/var anywhere. (This is like what is on my old server when I ran 2.6, which has the autoexec and everytime cfg files in it). I might have created those myself, ...

thanks zman. luci, I'm running enterprise actually. I remember some discussion about binary rpm versus compiled, and thought many believe the compiled version would give better performance. But I imagine that would be more a factor for the client. Anywho, I'll just try out the rpm I guess. Now I hav...

I saw the movie on the first day it came out. Probably the first showing. I was a weirdo with a superstition that I had to see the very first showing of anything sci-fi back then. That superstition collapsed on one of the star trek movies when circumstances prevented me from getting to the first sho...

compiling dedicated

ok, excuse the dumb questions, but I've been away from this for a while. I finally got my new data center linux server. I'm going to throw AA on there first thing and see how much server is uses when it's otherwise empty. Server load is currently 0.00! I got what I thought was the the dedicated vers...

It's important to ping each game server, so you know *your* ping return time to it. There's no way the master server can tell me who I will get a good connection to. (which z-man pretty much stated already). But as this is key information, perhaps there's another way to prevent this concern. Actuall...

I personally wouldn't bother with conf files and such, I would just do add this to the .htaccess file in the web root. Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^.*$ http://www.microsoft.com [R,L] Create .htaccess if it's not there of course. Change microsoft to whatever you want. It coul...
