Re: New Title Screen!? and other cool stuff

A friend owe me money so I'm tempted to max out a machine. I won't tell you not to, but I wouldn't. You can easily spend like $1200 on a 2080 TI alone, but do you really play games demanding enough to utilize it? Hell, you could look into SLI and double that cost on GPU alone. I would recommend loo...

Re: New Title Screen!? and other cool stuff

I think I can do the video capture, I just ran a test with SimpleScreenRecorder. Heh, before you do any work, we should check whether I can play back your debug recordings, that's no given :) Can you post a really long one? And before that, check whether you can reach 60 FPS, whatever it takes (yes...

Re: Sweet 16 Birthday tomorrow

Sounds like a good time! Hope you guys have fun. Now if I can just figure out how to customize the wall textures. 8) Here we go: http://wiki.armagetronad.org/index.php/Customizing_the_game#Installing_a_different_default_texture Just be aware that you will only see the texture changes on the client y...

Re: And now we have git.

(though there might be just a docker based system you can slap onto any old server, haven't checked). That's always my assumption. (: https://hub.docker.com/r/crashvb/reprepro/ I see no certified images for this, so if that's a bother, we'd have to just make one, but shouldn't be too difficult. I d...

Re: And now we have git.

Does anyone have objections against declaring our GIT branches now the one true source? An issue has cropped up, that's why I'm asking. I think this should have happened a long time ago. Maybe continue uploading releases for a while, but GIT is the way to go. Of course, I'm not a dev here, but I ha...

Re: How can we help people to stay indoors during the corona crisis by playing more arma?

Invite people to play that are bored at home with nothing to do and try to get them hooked. I probably also wouldn't try to have some sort of tagline relating growth of the game with COVID-19. Gonna be easy to make such a small community look bad.

Re: New engine please

@Monkey that sounds amazing. I will have to check it out for myself. :P I have some work projects that could benefit from that if it works well. Most of the time when I've looked at options like this, they require a lot of outdated software that I simply don't want to put together. Hopefully this on...

Re: New engine please

Monkey, I'm not gonna read through 6 pages of posts, but a quick Google search appears to show that this would allow exporting for mobile as well, yes? Would it require a second source, or can one source generate releases for x86, ARM, Android, iOS, etc? Firstly, that we shouldn't encourage too much...

Re: Donations

Glu, I sat here and wrote a big long explanation about why that wouldn't really work, and I may have just talked myself through how to make it work. Does anyone have a really good VPS host that runs low latency so I can look at pricing?

Re: Donations

+1 to what sinewav said; I'd trust Light to look after/spend my donations. If you're happy with that Z-Man, could we not put a button on the Arma website for him? He should put one on his site too, but I definitely think the main site should have one as well. I have no problem donating to Light if ...

Re: Discord-based tournaments, discussion

Okay, so how can we be constructive about this? I have a little experience using bots from the irc days. You seem to have some experience with web-based things. Wouldn't it be possible to combine the two? The users interact with the system through discord using simple commands, such as "!register s...

Re: Discord-based tournaments, discussion

For the browser based approach, that sounds great and all but - realistically - it seems farther away than a discord bot. For the most part, it's a very basic database and a simple form. Both of which would be done in Discord as well. Both options need to be hosted somewhere and run 24/7, with many...

Re: Discord-based tournaments, discussion

I've thought about something similar, but I think a web-based approach would make more sense. Maybe a Discord bot could then just tie into it through an API, but user validation would require having your Discord name set up on your account or something of the sort. What a web-based option would prov...
